They don’t have a modern, competitive desktop or laptop.
But they do have a gay CEO, so yea diversity!
Or people can’t afford them these days.
I don’t know why any normal user, notice, I said normal, would buy a mac laptop or desktop these days. They are so old looking, outdated CPUs and memory and super expensive. Plus Windows 10 is really good now. A lot of my customers are upgrading to 10 pro now and bought new desktops as well.
Lenovo M93P Tiny Desktop with an i7 and SSD for under $500
Apple can’t even compete with that
I’m a pc/linux guy, and not a apple fanboi by any stretch, but a lady friend recently purchased a macbook-mini. Well it turned out to be a beautiful machine. Well designed, very ergonomic, beautiful display. Just plain nice. Gotta give ‘em credit as the old saying goes.
Something you are missing. Durability and longevity. Many people find their MacBook pro is like elephant skin boots and doesn’t wear out.
Units sold will lag because the windows crowd will buy two in the time we buy one. My daughter took a new Pro to college. She is in grad school now and is starting to think about replacing it, but it isn’t a crisis. All of her roomates have replaced their windows machine once at least or had major issues to sort out in updates etc.
Her Pro has been drama free.
My MacBook Pro from 2011 is still “good enough”.
I don’t use one anymore at all, except at the office. iPad and iPhone is all I need.
A single usb-c port just doesn’t do the job. What were they thinking?
I’m running an i7-6700K Skylake Hackintosh, so I get to enjoy OS X without paying Apple’s prices. Really the best of both worlds.
I’m happy with my brand new MacBook.
One of younger relatives was accepted to an highly rated private high school last fall.
The students have to have a laptop with good WiFi reception. He is very knowledgeable re computers. We bought his sister at a sister school the top I pad two years ago. She is still using it everyday for 2+years with zero problems.
We told him, we would buy him what he needed in his school. He asked us to buy him an Chromebook 15 like I have. His mother is a Apple addict and said the IT at his new school would only help kids with Macs. So, we bought him a Mac Air. It is slow, it has been back to The Apple Store to correct problems twice. The crack IT at his school was no help, besides recommending The Apple Store.
When, he comes up here, he leaves his Mac Air at home and uses my Chromebook. At times he has 12+ tabs ready to quickly go to. If he needs to copy, send or document something, he uses Google Docs to do that with his own GMail acct..
The school he used to attend has gone to Chromebooks since last fall for the library and some classrooms. They couldn’t figure out how to use a printer with the Chromebooks. I showed him how to use a HP 4500 to connect to the cloud or wirelessly with a Chromebook. He showed a friend, who attends that school. Now they have printers that work wirelessly or via the cloud.
He told his mother, that we could have bought him two Chromebooks, one to keep at school and one at home to avoid carrying them around, and Acer Android Tablet and a new HP printer for home for less than what we paid for his Air Mac.
The MacBooks are horribly overpriced for the teensy amount of memory they offer. I made the switch a year or so ago from PC and loved my MacBook Pro, I trimmed back significantly what I store locally and used an external drive, and still ran short on memory. Also ran into some of the same problems I had with PCs in terms of memory issues, etc. I just got a nice HP with Windows 10 that has 4X the memory at half the cost of the MacBook. I am super impressed with Windows 10. I loved the Apple OS and the total interconnectivity with my phone and tablet, but otherwise, the difference in user experience is non-existence. I think Apple needs to get into this decade in storage space or they’ll have more issues.

Ping
My MB Pro doesn’t have enough memory... It’s a major downgrade.

Before tablets my family had 4 or 5 MacBooks/Macbook Pros. Now we all have iPad tablets which perform the same functions. Still have a couple Mac Pro desktops for real work.
Look for a new MacBook in June
In addition, Apple introduced the completely redesigned MacBook the following quarter of 2015, the upgraded MacBook Pro and Air that quarter and it followed the intro of the iPhone 6 with its extraordinary halo effect. This article is wrong on several fronts.
