This is a lake on the edge of the hotel. Might be a good idea to hire some swamp people.

[[Why is a 2 year old near the water at 9:30 at night?]]

They were doing a movie night thing at the beach

One thing that I didn’t mention in my original post. One of my best friends is at Disney World right now with her two year old daughter. She’s been posting pictures of the trip all week on Facebook. I just don’t want to think that it could be that sweet little girl...

They really need a good hunt to bring the numbers of the really large ones down .

Can't do that! Might offend someone that identifies as a gator!

The links that you provided do not function. They both go 404.

Try these;

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/breaking-news/os-child-dragged-alligator-disney-20160614-story.html

http://www.wfaa.com/news/nation/reports-toddler-dragged-by-gator-into-water-near-disneys-grand-floridian/244407569

Notice anything about them?

The first one links to Orlando Sentinel, the second one goes to WFAA out of Dallas-Ft.Worth.

But these two work.

Having an outdoor event on a beach at ground level beside a body of water with alligators, at night, with tourists who aren’t even thinking about such a thing, was a disaster waiting to happen if the resort didn’t have any sort of measures in place to prevent alligators from coming up onto the beach. I tend to think they’re going to have a liability problem.

My friend just texted me. It isn’t her family. While thankful for that, some other family is going through an unimaginable hell right now.

That well may be, but HOW does a parent not NOTICE an ALLIGATOR getting close to their child???

From what little I’ve read, she was last seen wandering along the edge of the water and then she was gone. I don’t think anyone saw it happen.

I’ve got them in my back yard. They keep the stray dog population down so that’s OK because stray dogs rip into pens and kill livestock, while gators pretty much mind their own business. But if I had a toddler, that kid wouldn’t be anywhere near the water because gators aren’t particular about what they eat and are darn near impossible to see in pond vegetation.
A lot of people just shoot the big ones until the kids grow up enough to have some situational awareness.

Scrolling over the links as you'd posted, I think I see the problem...

There is an added ")" character (what is between the quotation marks).

Otherwise the heading link would have gone to WFAA (D-FW) instead of Orlando Sentinel, and the (Excerpt) Read more at link at the bottom of the thread posting would have gone to WFAA too, if in both instances of the use of those there had not been included a trailing ) .

“That well may be, but HOW does a parent not NOTICE an ALLIGATOR getting close to their child???”

Big Alligators are predators. They are sneaky, very good at blending in, with little showing above water, and lightning fast when they attack.

You might not want to watch this. It is very graphic. But it shows you how it happens.
