Orlando survivor admits TRAPPING other club-goers inside after he escaped... 'doing the right thing'

One of the Orlando shooting survivors has admitted to locking an exit door, putting dozens of revelers' lives at risk during the massacre. The revelations about Luis Burbano's actions the night of the shooting have come to light after he gave an interview, saying he 'regrets' his second chance at life. When gunman Omar Mateen first started firing inside Orlando, Florida gay club Pulse around 2am on Sunday, Burbano says he dropped to the ground and then looked for an exit. Nearby, he saw people moving through a small 'employee's only' door hidden behind a curtain, and followed after. On the other side of the door was a narrow hallway where Burbano estimates about 20 people were crawling over each other to get to the exit at the other end. Burbano says he decided to shut the door behind him because the hallway was getting dangerously overcrowded. Burbano was questioned about the rumors he locked other partiers inside the club during an interview With Fox News' Megyn Kelly on Sunday, and during the interview he admitted that it was risky. 'That was on my mind,' Burbano said. 'There was banging, there was pushing of the door...but at that point in time, I just tried doing what I thought would be best at that moment because [the gunshots were] getting louder and getting closer.'

Reminds me of George Costanza pushing old ladies in walkers over to flee what he thought was a burning building.

I haven’t read the story but I can’t imagine living with his guilt if what I think happened, happened! Some are instinctively heroes, some panic and can’t move, some scream and can’t stop, some all huddle up, but most focus on their immediate survival. I don’t think I could forgive myself in his shoes...

I feel sorry for this guy. He has to live with the guilt for the rest of his life. He’s actually a winner in survival of the fittest. Guessing there are not too many people celebrating his victory. Maybe his family?

Too bad no one was able to knock the shooter over the head from behind with a heavy object (or stab him in the back with any available knife or broken bottle) during the chaos.

Perhaps a lame excuse and a big fat lie and “terrorist’s assistant”.

Given this chance to save other lives, this coward chose to sacrifice them to facilitate his own escape.

Unfit for duty.

I watched this live, and was thinking the same thing. He was saying he wasn’t a hero. No kidding, you probably got people killed. Why was locking the door helping you?

The reason behind “survivor’s guilt” is usually because of what they did to ensure their survival at the expense of another’s.

Just like a first experience with combat, it’s impossible to predict how one will actually behave when confronted with life-or-death situations, regardless of purported bravado or nobility beforehand.

Exactly correct, Hot Tabasco.

There are LOTS of keyboard commandos who feel they have it all figured-out from the comfort of their sofas in their air-conditioned homes.
We have no idea what each of those unfortunate people were facing at that moment.
