Billions. This kind of hubris and violation of people’s freedom of choice should be at least a near-death experience for the company, one that COULD never be forgotten.

> Windows 10 sucks rock. Had to remove it from my tablet/computer because it rendered the majority of my apps obsolete. I must admit that reverting back to Windows 8 was a breeze.

I'm glad you were able to roll back easily. What amazes me is that you prefer Win8. To each their own. ;-)

Same thing happened to me. It seemed that I had “caught it in time” and reverted back to Win 7, but it caused me a lot of heartache and inconvenience. If my husband had gotten to the computer first, he probably would’ve clicked “Yes, Complete Download” just to get the message off the screen. Then we would be stuck with Windoze 10. >:-(

As a current Windows 10 user, I say again, why does Microsoft want to foist this system on us so urgently. I’ve seen the explanation that Microsoft would benefit handsomely from advertisements via Windows 10, but I still wonder. Maybe Microsoft will join all our Windows 10 computers into one giant botnet to spam the world with ads that will make them millions? Or perhaps Windows 10 is extraordinarily efficient in collecting all our personal information, should we not opt out, for purposes of targeting us with specific ads or even sharing it with government entities?

Maybe Gates is behind this massive Windows 10 push in order to sterilize first-world computer users with electromagnetic radiation from Windows 10 computers.

This very evening I have to go to Geek Squad to pick up my PC which had crashed thanks to Window 10. All my files & apps are gone. I didn’t realize what a dud this OS has been.

“.. no complaints here from me”

Yes, but what about the extra spying of your browsing habits that Windows 10 is doing?

I have a Lenovo tablet and many functionalities didn’t work anymore with Windows 10 (Veriface to name one). I did keep Windows 10 on my desktop, so...

ToxicMich, you were lucky. I tried upgrading from Windows 7 to 10 last August, and it was a disaster. A lot of my old favorite programs would not work, including MS Office 10(!), and the new software couldn’t access the Internet, so the Edge browser and Cortana were useless. To go back to Windows 7, I had to reformat my C Drive, and run the emergency recovery DVDs I made when I bought that computer.

Now I am getting a popup every couple hours, asking if I want to upgrade. No thanks, Microsoft never compensated me for the days of my life I lost from last year’s upgrade and recovery. I wonder if I can sue to get rid of the upgrade attempts?

“ToxicMich, you were lucky. “

I know. I did a stupid thing by installing it without reading about it before. After I installed it I read about all the problems it was causing to the Lenovo tablet.

I learned my lesson.

All my files & apps are gone.
Sorry to hear that but you violated one of the original, cardinal rules of computing - never keep your data/files on the hard drive.
Programs can be reloaded after a crash, but lost data is gone forever (although SpinRite saved the day a few times :)

“therefore the user will be charged...”

That’s going to be difficult when they don’t have any method of payment for most Windows users (since the majority are purchased with OEM licenses from the hardware vendor).

If they do have a method of payment and charge you without specific authorization, then they just violated quite a few federal laws.
