How Trump Can Heal the Rift (Vanity)
Jewbacca's Brain ^ | 7/21/2016 | Jewbacca

Posted on 07/21/2016 7:14:33 AM PDT by Jewbacca

I believe it is Trump's obligation, as the victor, to be the bigger man and do his part to heal the rift in the party, regardless of who one believes to be fault. That's just the way these things work. The victor must be a good winner.

Here's what he should work into his speech:

"You know, I've always enjoyed watching Ted Cruz take it to the powers-that-be in Washington. He's a man of deep conservative principles --- and a complete pain in the ass.

I don't enjoy it much when he's a pain in my ass.

But he's OUR pain in the ass.

And he's right about one thing in particular --- and said the most important thing you've heard at this convention --- vote for the man who will uphold the Constitution, believes in liberty and freedom, and who will return this fine country to greatness.

Well, I give my word to Ted, and I give my word to you. Indeed, I swear by G-d, on my life and the life of my children and grandchildren, that I will uphold the Constitution. I believe in liberty and freedom, and I will return this fine country to greatness."

The result would be a healing of the rift, the NeverTrumpers would shut up, and Cruz and Trump could work together, which they will need to do.

The pearls-before-swine argument is a powerful one. Cruz is Scumbagass Maximus and would twist the olive branch into something ugly and nasty, like the inner workings of his own soul.

Very well stated!

As far as I am concerned, anyone still supporting cruz is not worth the effort. I heard part of his TX delegation speech this am and he was talking about his oath to uphold the constitution. Oaths might be a subject for him to avoid right now but he is to bloody arrogant for that to dawn on him. The man made a promise in front of millions of people and willfully broke it. Now he tries to paint the betrayal as honorable. Vile and scurrilous are the kindest words for him.

“Not a bad idea, but I would not refer to Cruz at all in the speech. I would though, as you suggest, have Trump pledge to scrupulously follow the laws and Constitution of the United States. It should be suggested, quietly and through reliable intermediaries, that Cruz should take that as an opening to endorse Trump and as a lifeline back to getting in the good graces of the party faithful. Make clear that if Cruz did that, the reaction from Trump would be that he was pleased at the endorsement and valued Senator Cruz as an ally and as a man of great integrity.”

Works for me.

I think the problem is a few people still don’t see through Ted Cruz. That’s why it has to be dumbness. They still view everything he does through the prism that he is a Christian family man and the next Reagan. They’ve projected a hope onto a complete scumbag

“Ted Cruz is a selfish individual .... Ef em.”

This is not about Cruz. He’s only marginally relevant in the calculation. This is about the 20%.

The so-called NeverTrumpers are just like liberals.

"decriminalize homo activity, that's all we ask and we'll shut up". Now they demand gay marriage, forcing schools to teach kids to be gay, turn the military into a gay social club. Make it a crime to say anything against gays. etc.

"Make abortion legal and we'll shut up for good on the topic". Now Christian organizations have to pay for abortions, etc.

Now the NeverTrumpers say "all we ask is that Trump kiss Cruz's ring... just once and we'll be on board". Sure they will.

Cruz would allow the country to be destroyed over his vanity and his feeling of entitlement. He lost... he needs to learn some humility. If he can't be a team player then he's unfit for ANY public office.

Why is it always Trump that has to reach out?

Trump reached out and gave Cruz the opportunity to help in the healing process; opportunity lost.

“Why is it always Trump that has to reach out?”

Unfair, I agree.

But the practical reason is: to defeat Hillary.

Well, the “few jerks” (the 20%) can pull the lever for #nevertrump and condemn the future of this country. How is this a positive to the 20%?

Perhaps. I posted a serious message about how Trump can defeat Hillary by reaching out to hold-outs, building on Newt’s brilliant speech of last night.

"Reaching out to hold-outs"?? Hardly. Instead, it was focused exclusively on Cruz, and how Trump must be nice to him and find a way to mend bridges. That is why you were pounced upon.

Well said! Nothing more is required of the lying POS Cruz except the left foot of fellowship. After his speech he had several confrontations one of them was a gracious offer held out by Adelson to come to his suite to visit him. But instead of endorsing Trump he burned that wick as well and Adelson wouldn’t let him into his suite. This despite the fact Adelson actually liked Cruz. All reports are that they were stunned and disappointed.

The final few who are his ardent acolytes will be irrelevant this election.

Don’t disagree, at all.

Doesn’t mean that it isn’t so, however.

Emotion defeats logic.

I have a great idea! How about: Cruz be nice to Trump! Ever thought of that approach? What do you think?

If that so called 20% (wherever you got that number from) can't tell the difference between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton then they are hopeless and we don't them. Ef em too. Its all about #NeverHillary.

Be great. But apparently that won’t happen.

So we are on to Plan B.

Seems to me, Plan B was done by Trump already.

He let Cruz speak.

Plan B is done.

“In response I was attacked as a hold out myself, called names, and generally insulted.”

I’ve had the same thing happen to me. You post an opinion or make a suggestion and all you get back is hurled insults. I’m a moron, an idiot, go back to DU, who are you, Bill Clinton?

I was precinct chairman when the Pat Robertson people took over our county in 1988. They were so different. They said thank you so much for all you’ve done keeping the party going for all these years. We appreciate your hard work and look forward to your advice to help us. That while they were voting us out of our leadership positions.

The Trump group, at least on these threads are very different. They don’t care what you’ve done and how long you’ve worked. Everyone is a liar and a moron and they owe no one nothing except disdain.

It’s pretty disheartening.

Actually the way Trump handles this and is the bigger man is to never speak Cruz’s name again... He’s irrelevant, he’s thrown his little public temper tantrum and is probably right now making plans to try to be the nominee next time.

Trump unites the party by simply doing what he’s been doing, targeting the corruption that is the uniparty and the money men backing it, telling the truth about it and continuing to put America First....

Trump shouldn’t waste his breath or energy in any way over Cruz, there is no need to speak his name.. He can thank those that voted for him and ensure those that didn’t that he will always put them first, and America First....That’s all he needs to do, and that’s really all he should do.

If that’s not enough for someone because they are brand loyal to a former candidate, let them stay home, they aren’t worth the pandering and compromise that will be needed to get them on board, and it will cost you more somewhere else trying to appease them.

Trump knows this, he’s in business... he knows the customer isn’t always right... some customers you are better off just not having.

Ted Cruz is a foreign born, ineligible Cuban Canadian. He uses the Constitution for his own self serving purposes. And you expect Trump to LIE? Some of US know what the original intent of OUR Constitution means when the founders, specifically used the phrase ‘natural born’ US citizen. Ted Cruz has yet to prove to me he is actually a US citizen... I have seen his Canadian birth certificate.

I will NOT be an Esau and sell out my children's birthright... bestowed upon them by their parents. That is why the original intent of the Constitution was ‘we the people are government’, NOT self serving Harvard Law Schooled narcissistic distorters of OUR Constitution. they come in the name of GOD. Ted Cruz's parents did NOT bestow upon him ‘natural born’ US citizenship... I do not give a damn what the corrupted legal subverts claim.

Trump gave Ted Cruz the opportunity last night to be a hero, and there is no hero in him. And the NeverTrump cabal worship that golden Wall Street bull, and they will elect Hillry or even Bernie to protect their gated communities... Then you have the so called ‘religious’ bunch, one of which claimed he would not vote for Trump if he was running against the ‘anti-Christ’.

Trump did NOT poison the well, the water was already brackish before he ever announced his candidacy. These of the high end of the Bell Curve spectrum, hijacked conservative ideology, and they are all about protecting their means and methods of keeping their bank accounts flush. The laziest people on earth and what is ahead to turn this nation around requires of them to ‘work’ and they are the worst of the worst in the concept of physical labor.
