Hello all, I recently started using the free blender 2.77 software, I'm a brand new user, and have never modeled
anything using 3D software. (I got it for an educational job, I'll be taking soon) I have many of the basics down,
but was hoping there may be some more advance users in freeper ville who could help with a couple questions.
(I know there's forums out there for this, but I'm trying to cut down on all the sign ups)

Regarding the ARRAY MODIFIER, when I try to join the main shape created by the modifier, with an additional shape,
by SHIFT SELECTING (objects) + CTRL J the object created with the modifier disappears in OBJECT MODE,
and in EDIT MODE it doesn't join either. What am I missing?

There’s manuals on line, but trying to pinpoint a particular problem with each new version, is like try to find a needle in a haystack. :^)
When I use it to make margaritas, my phone gets all wet.

I’d look up blender with a few keywords on YouTube. Sure to be lots of demos there.

Actually, I did try googling, but missed this one, this may be the answer, I’ll give it try. It’s always nice to have an extra set of eyes. I’ll let you know if this works, Thanks.
Google (the internet) is amazing - what an incredible resource. Even after using it for so many years, I’m still in awe, and we’re just at the beginning of it.

Well, are the objects created by the array modifier even “real” objects that you can join? Aren’t they just artifacts of the base object and the array modifier? Have you tried joining the base object with the additonal object instead?
I did a little more research, apparently they are real objects, but all linked together with the main object so you can’t manipulate them seperately:
