And order has been made to seize American swimmer Ryan Lochte's passport by Brazilian authorities after claims he 'lied about being robbed.'

Earlier police had further questions for the swimmer - a 12-time Olympic medallist - about the supposed robbery and found 'little evidence' that it had taken place.

Lochte claims that he and three of his team-mates were robbed at gunpoint in a taxi, but police say the swimmers were unable to provide key details in police interviews.

Lochte’s attorney, Jeff Ostrow, said there was no question the robbery happened and that the swimmer had 24-hour security hired after the incident.

Pictures and CCTV have emerged of the swimmer returning to the Olympic complex and passing security on the night of the alleged robbery - with the wallets and watches the men claim were stolen.

From everything that’s been said, these athletes don’t need hookers...They all sleep around with each other... Male and female athletes...

Ya, I’ve heard that they ordered thousands of condoms, among the supplies needed for the Olympic village.

I’ve heard the atmosphere in the Olympic village is like spring break.

The Olympics go on for two weeks, but the athletes have their events for just a few days of that time. There’s lots of down time.

This was decades ago, but my friends were robbed in much the same way, in Rio. Most of the street punks that rob foreigners will take anything of value, all your cash, and give back the wallet, credit cards, and passport.

Instead of just saying, “I lost my wallet.” Yeah, being robbed by the police is such a better explanation.

You;re right - thats why it sounds like they were probably robbed, but the details of how they were robbed were sketchy

I know if I was ever robbed I would be telling everyone it was 12 guys with guns

They’re just having a little fun, it’s only Brazil after all, not a real country, who cares ...

Maybe he’s embarrassed that the hooker that robbed him had a weiner.

In one part of Rio, the police ARE the street gang, and will sell you drugs and rent you prostitutes the same as any other street gang.

I read that the area the police control is by the airport.

#3 recalled this:

“I know a fellow with a motor launch for hire
A skinny man with two-tone shoes
Cause tonight they’re arranging a small reception just for me
Behind the big casino by the sea

I know what happens
I read the book
I believe I just got the goodbye look”

Sometimes a watch isn't worth stealing. I doubt that he was wearing a Rolex, or Breitling. When I have to travel internationally I leave my watch at home, and buy a POS digital Casio watch for $10 at Walmart for the trip.

Walking around with this

in a third world craphole is asking for trouble.

I have never worn a watch in my entire life, not a single day ... Heck, with smart phones today who wears a watch anyway?

"No, no, no. This is a Rochefoucauld, the thinnest water-resistant watch in the world. Singularly unique, sculptured in design, hand-crafted in Switzerland and water-resistant to three atmospheres. This is the sports watch of the 80's. $6955 retail. It tells time simultaneously in Monte Carlo, Beverly Hills, London, Paris, Rome, and Gstaad."

"In Philadelphia, it's worth 50 bucks."

BREAKING ....

Lochte involved in high speed chase ....

This just in over the AP wire. Lochte was just involved in a high speed chase by Brazilian police that lasted over 17 minutes. Lochte is now safely wtihin the Russian Embassy. Russian President Putin has weighed in stating "Lochte will be given sanctuary only if we are also given Michael Phelps". The Brazilian people are protesting in the streets and have stated that they would like to see their country at least get a bowl of porridge out of the deal ... ?

I suspect that Lochte was robbed by actual POLICE and now they’re eager to cover it up thinking that if they intimidate a high profile American they can get away with it just like they do with any other American tourist.

I don’t see this turning out well for Brazil’s tourist industry.

I do. It has diamonds and is a fashion statement plus I do not have to take my phone out to check the time.

“metal detector tapes”

The only problem with this statement should be glaringly obvious.
