Trump finds support in former Democratic stronghold in Maryland
The Baltimore Sun ^ | August 20, 2016 | John Fritze

Twenty years ago, when thousands of people still drove past his Edgemere gas station every day on their way to make steel and cars, Carl Hobson put up signs for Democrats.

Now the 77-year-old displays one of the largest "Trump" signs in this blue-collar community. The "Make America Great Again" slogan is impossible to miss under the price for diesel.

Hobson has owned the station since 1964, when Bethlehem Steel and General Motors weren't just large employers important to the local economy — they were fundamental to the region's culture.

"People don't want a third term of Obama," Hobson said. Maryland is a blue state, he said, but "the people in this area are definitely not Hillary people."

I live northeast of Baltimore and travel the state for work. I’ve seen zero Hillary signs, unless you count the big Hillary for Prison sign on I-70 and plenty of Trump signs and bumper stickers.

The few Clinton Stickers are on the vehicles of feminazi-wannabe looking women.

I was talking yesterday to a guy who lives near me. Until recently, he lived in a shack on an old farm, pretty much off the grid. He’s an older black gentleman who earns his way detailing cars. He’s a strong Trump supporter.

The article said that the Dundalk area was a stronghold of Ragan Democrats. I don’t know about that as I grew up in Macomb County, Michigan, the home of the Reagan Democrats. However, a few months ago, I was driving through Dundalk and saw an original Reagan/Bush bumper sticker on a light pole.

Old, *old* Baltimore joke.

Q. What are the first three words a Dundalk baby learns?

A. "Attention, K-Mart Shoppers!"

Hmmm, Maryland, a few weeks ago I posted this story. I found it in a comment on a HotAir.com thread, but thought it was interesting enough to share with you all:

Here from a commenter on HotAir.com ( http://hotair.com/archives/2016/08/10/seth-richs-family-to-conspiracy-theorists-please-stop/ ):

Hector Luis Del Valle-Beauchamp
Construction Analyst at U.S. Small Business Administration

Thank you Steve W. Had a very interesting afternoon. Went to this woman’s house to discuss her health benefit options on Medicare and when we were through, she asked me if I was interested in politics. Well, we sat there and discussed everything under the sun regarding the candidates and then she hit me with this: I have been the Election Judge for Baltimore County for 30 years!!!!! And this is what she said. As you know, Maryland has traditionally been a Democrat State since Agnew left office and became Vice President. It was only in the last election that we voted in a Republican Governor. She then went on to say, that in all her 30 years, she has NEVER witnessed the change in political affiliations as this year. People came in droves to switch from Democrat to Republican, Independents to Republican and when checking with the other counties, the same phenomenon had occurred. She then said, people need to ignore the polls for now. Then she said that she would not be surprised that if all the people who did switch parties voted Republican that Hillary would lose in Maryland. That was the most encouraging conversation I had regarding this election in some time.

Maryland appears to be recovering from whatever it was that made them vote for the Democrats.

Maryland is a state that proves Republicans WILL turn out given a real candidate. Brown was ahead of Hogan by 9 points 10 days out when Obama decided to make believe HE was the reason for Brown’s lead. That was a red flag the awoke the Maryland Republicans and Hogan won by 4 points. There are other states like this as well.

SO PROUD TO SEE THIS STORY!!!
I’m in Harford County, about 40 miles up Interstate 95 from Baltimore and my grandest dream is to see my state deliver its 10 electoral votes to President-Elect Donald Trump!!!
As I have posted before, I registered as a democrat in high school in 1978 and it took Mr. Trump to change my affiliation so I could vote for in April. He is definitely the greatest GOP nominee in my lifetime (my childhood hero was JFK—BTW, I was born on JFK’s 43rd birthday in 1960)!!!
Mr. Trump has become my champion and given voice to my fears for the future of our country!! His courage, common sense/brilliance/genius and undeniable patriotism has truly captured my heart and soul. He is the strong honorable leader the world desperately needs at this time of choosing!!
I have to admit I was rather surprised that Hogan won, but I guess Maryland was ripe for change after all those miserable O’Malley years, which took down his Lt. Governor.
While I am glad my state finally woke up, I am no fan of Hogan, who opted not to attend the convention and still refuses to help Trump in any way—despite a couple of calls from me to his office pleading for him to marshal his resources for Trump.
Again, I am thrilled and extremely delighted to see this news from my state and it would be so so so magnificent to see Maryland called for Trump on November 8!!!

Our state has a Republican governor who has high approval ratings, that may be one factor. I live on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, not far from Dover Delaware. I have seen a great many Trump signs in both states, but so far not one single Hillary sign.

I hope Hogan’s popularity rubs off on Trump.
Our congressman Dr. Andy Harris, initially supported Dr. Carson, but has remained neutral since Carson dropped out.
Our only other former GOP Chief Executive Robert Ehrlich stumped a little with Kasich and has recently appeared on local radio talk shows talking about how Trump plays/likes to win!!!
Up here in Harford County, I only see a Trump signs as well.
If the rest of the state can offset Baltimore City and the D.C. suburban counties, Trump may in fact have a fighting chance to win our state!!!

I'm from there. I keep my finger on the pulse through family and the local paper. Believe me, Trump is popular. There are no jobs, except for the two prisons those SOB downstate Dims allotted there (as punishment for not being as blue as Annapolis, IMHO), and the Baltimore street thugs and their drugs followed. A secession idea for the four westernmost counties went from a snicker to a grassroots movement. People are getting depressed, turning to drugs. They're tired of being crapped on at every level. Trump may not overcome that fetid lib sewer along the I-95 corridor, but the state map is gonna be trimmed crimson at both ends after election day.
