Trump promised personal gifts on ‘Celebrity Apprentice.’ Here’s who really paid.

The time had come to fire Khloé Kardashian. But first, Donald Trump had a question.

“What’s your charity?” Trump asked.

They were filming “The Celebrity Apprentice,” the reality-TV show where Trump schooled the faded and the semi-famous in the arts of advertising, salesmanship and workplace infighting. Most weeks, one winner got prize money for charity. One loser got fired.

...

“I’m going to give $20,000 to your charity,” Trump said, according to a transcript of that show.

He didn’t.

After the show aired in 2009, Kardashian’s charity did receive $20,000. But it wasn’t from Trump. Instead, the check came from a TV production company, the same one that paid out the show’s official prizes.

If you watch any game shows or the like this is the way things are paid out, Through a production company and/or the sponsors of the show.

Donald Trump was not personally going to pay that money, never was.

I stopped reading when I was Washington Post.

I’m sorry, but that publication has no business being posted on FR. They have become a complete anti-Trump blog, and are no better than the Daily Kos.

"...I'm putting it here to see what my fellow Freepers think about it."

Great! I think you are probably upset with Trump for spurning your frisky romantic overtures... or, you're just a Democrat shill. Is that redundant? Anyway, that's what I think about you posting this crap. This pointless, projectile vomit.

If it came out of his paycheck, what’s the difference?

It is still his money coming out of his account.

I thought Trump was a partner in the production company. So technically he did give away his own money

He owned half the show, I believe

That is why the production company had to get Trump’s permission to substitute Arnold in his place next year

And what about Oprah giving away cars? You think that came out of her pocket?

OMG, you mean Bob Barker didn’t give all those people their gifts, either. Well, at least Pat Sajak and Oprah Winfrey are authentic charitable givers on their shows, right?! I mean, we all know how generous Oprah was giving all those cars right out of her own pocket, right?! Gimme a break!

Not trolling at all. I agree it’s utter crap. Just want to respond with something better than “it’s utter crap”.

...and let’s think about this.

If he is maxed out for charity donations, the best way to give is to get it deducted from your paycheck to bypass the IRS Limits.

Honestly, I still don’t like Trump even though I am voting for him, but at least in how he handles his paycheck, he is doing it right.

The author is an idiot that doesn’t know what the wealthy do to protect their money from the tax man.

“David A. Fahrenthold and Alice Crites”

This would be the equivalent of these two writers donating to Clinton, getting caught and fined and WAPO paying the fine. Of course they would first lie about it, get caught lying, blame someone else, try to hide the blame, getting caught blaming someone else and finally copping to something that appears to be totally unrelated.

He did that every year that I can remember on Celebrity Apprentice. It seems like he would do it more than once per season. It is probably in the budget to hand out extra money.

Just like when he “spontaneously “ fires extra people.

It is likely in the schedule to at sometime fire extra people during the season.

Oh, so I shouldn’t ask for help so I can effectively counter the argument? I don’t personally know how TV shows work.

Thanks for the help, NOT!

Who cares where it came from? The pledge of money WAS delivered!
Maybe the Production Company deducted the $20,000 from Trumps
salary.

Did the charity get the money or didn’t they? If they did then who cares who wrote the check?
