This has been gong on for years. I remember some poor people in our neighborhood getting the cheese. And they did appreciate it.

We’ll be lucky to get watery gruel.

Hmm, I figured she'd want to fatten us up before we're thrown into the soylent green mixer.

Follow the money right out of our wallets and into Obama’s, Hellary’s, etc.

Minorities do not like good cheeses. They think cheese comes in a wiz can or a velveta box. I'm not joking. I took a cheese plate to work one day with brie, gruyere, Havarti, ten year old white sharp cheddar, and a young nutty swiss. I served it with crackers, crustini, fruit, and flat breads.

You might as well have been feeding them tribbles from Romulan space?

The federal government also buys all the surplus milk from a dehydrating company. They then ship it to one of two companies in the US that rewets it, emulsifies it, adds vitamin D and trace minerals, pay for it in 2,000 pound sacks, then send it to warehouses until it's use by date expires, send it to a landfill, and repeat.

Central Planned Economy that fails.

Utilized to promote farm welfare.

They turn around and donate it to Indian groups and encourage poverty.

Government.

Yep. Government price fixing.

Let the market determine the price of cheese. Not the government.

We had great food in elementary school. Real cooks that were there before daybreak and made fabulous lunches out of all the government surplus food they received. LOVE the cheese.

Follow the money. Nothing more, nothing less.

The cheese is probably gotten from the milk to get the fat content down. Why is common cheese at the $5 to $6 a pound level, and cottage cheese at $3 to $4 level per pint when the suppliers can't sell it?

Let's see now, that's about $2 a pound for surplus cheese. Releasing it on the market would have driven the price down to a level that the people on WIC could have afforded it in the food mart.

I've heard that the dairymen are having a hard time making a living these days because people who want to be skinny won't drink milk. I guess the shoppers must be buying diet soda instead. Maybe that's on the WIC list, too.

This is making my head hurt . . .

Oh Lord. You just reminded me of the most terrible lunch ever. Navy beans, peanut butter crackers, canned kale and apple sauce. Many many decades after elementary school, I still remember that lunch.

Would that be the same government that dropped $1.5 billion of paper gold on the Comex earlier this week?

I have a better Idea, send it to food banks all over the US and LOWER the price and more people especially Seniors would buy more Cheese.

Before food stamps you got vouchers that provided a 20 qt box of Powdered Milk, a 5 lb block of cheese and Peanut Butter per month.
