If you have never been to the Boardwalk you have truly missed something
The Boardwalk brings tourism and tax dollars to an otherwise depressed area

I assume you know some of the winery people? They always struck me as a bunch of hippies in the Santa Cruz mountains who happened to make some decent wines.

I was there in 1993 when my stepson graduated from basket weaving college at Santa Cruz. Nice liberal place.

Santa Cruz is a wonderful town with a nice mission, redwood trees, freezing ocean water, sweet waves at the lighthouse and super bright people at the university. William Everson taught poetry at UCSC and lived in Scotts Valley. Way beautiful area with honest ranchers and spoiled flower children.
I went to the funeral of William Everson in Berkeley in the 1990’s and his four wives all sat in the front row. The church was full of genuine hippies from the 60’s. Spoiled brats all of them.

Didn’t think I was sneering at your beloved village in my post. I enjoyed my stay there in 1993. Very comfortable. Was 118 fah here in Riverside that day in June, so it was a nice break for us by the seashore. Long drive, but worth it.

I saw some bluesmen there myself (in ‘86) — Buddy Guy, Jr. Wells, and Taj Majal.
