The problem is Charter or your local access.

Internet is working fine.

This site tells about a internet outage (and power outages where main ISPs are) with a *really* suspicious timing.

Heads Up flaming youth, Redcitizen has invoked the list.

Here we go again:

For when the INTERNET goes down and quits working completely (Sorta like Congress only funner)

I've created a FRee Republic Emergency Ping list (as suggested by mitch5501 ) called:

The "The INTERNET isn't working" ping list:

IF you would like "ON' or "OFF the list FReep Mail me OR ping me in a thread with your request. This will not be a High Volume Ping list (Well at least we hope the INTERNET doesn't quit working frequently)

"So let it be written. So let it be done."

The List: mitch5501; Rocky; Pajamajan; Mad Dawgg; hoosiermama; SE Mom; null and void; BenLurkin; bigheadfred; redhead; berdie; Old Sarge; wyokostur; GeronL; TheOldLady; ducttape45; Gefn; IYellAtMyTV; Redcitizen; LonePalm; garandgal; Fiddlstix; bt_dooftlook; liberalh8ter; Mercier; Truth29; PA Engineer; citizen; bleach; Greetings_Puny_Humans; TangoLimaSierra; Chickensoup; rexiesmom; FourtySeven; RinaseaofDs; RikaStrom; ozarkgirl; Grimmy; Jet Jaguar; silverleaf; tcrlaf; Red Badger; mumblypeg; LadyBuck; Bookwoman; RinaseaofDs; aragorn; LucyT

And for those of you asking how the ping list works when the internet goes dark:

Only problem with AT&T VDSL (UVerse) in Central Calif. lately was a DNS server mess up a few days ago. I switched to an alternate DNS provider, problem solved.

By “outage” what do you mean...no modem sync? Or no “browsing”? If the modem lights look pretty normal and you cannot Internet “browse”, try another DNS server like 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 or 209.244.0.3 (Southern Calif.). (Change in your network connection settings under “IPv4”).

We are on Cable One, and had an outage of maybe half an hour yesterday. It’s generally quite reliable.

If it was a fiber optic feeder cable of lets say 800 strands or more that was cut it could take that long.

Part of that time is just getting equipment in place to make the repair

How do I join said ping list? My service came back on at 6:00 pm Pacific. It went down at 12:30 am, for a total of 15.5 hours. Apparently this post to FR scared them enough to plug it back in.

When the internet goes down, perhaps we need to be on Mad Dawgg's ping list.

Check out # 46 for more info.

Thanks, Mad Dawgg.

Comcast user-excuse me-usee.

Phone goes out for a short time at least once a week.

Internet a couple of times a month, usually solved by a modem reset.

Funny how the teevee doesn’t usually go out.

Gotta keep the prole feed going I suppose.

Aside from the obvious hurricane areas, the map appears to be metropolitan areas. Interesting.

Amazingly at 5:13am EDT (USA) / 11:13am (Berlin) Julian Assange announced there would NOT be a specific release of anything related to Hillary Clinton at this event, and all of a sudden the outage issues cleared right up.

I think of all the idiots who sat home in 2012. And gave us 4 more years. And now, this.

Shoot, talked with a cousin last week. In church multiple times per week. Planning on sitting out the election. I told him, “I hope you like who you get ‘cuz you’re gonna get one or the other”.

I’m just astounded at the rank stupidity in this country. We are in the most dangerous time in America we’ve ever seen, IMHO.

And people are more than willing to help Hillary. SMH

This is fun tho obviously is onion material because if internet is down, people can’t contact FR...

I do apologize—I am feeling rather curmudgeonly after the defeat of the Protecting Internet Freedom Act last week...

I can’t help but feel if every Freeper, Breitbart reader, Drudge reader, Infowars reader had contacted the phone lists posted, we could have maintained Internet Control...However, that did not happen...so it is only a matter of time before we face international censorship.

This is no laughing matter—in all seriousness, Freepers had better get a real email ping list going to prepare for the sad day in the future when FR website is down, and I don’t mean a temporary denial of service.

You are right...I have ‘em in my family too...It is so infuriating!!

Romney is bad, but I don’t think he would have done the transfer of Internet control and some of the other things barry has done :(
