Heavy chocolate consumption may be linked to heart health, study suggests
BMJ-British Medical Journal ^ | August 30, 2011 | BMJ-British Medical Journal

High levels of chocolate consumption might be associated with a one third reduction in the risk of developing heart disease, suggests a study published online in the British Medical Journal....

The findings confirm results of existing studies that generally agree on a potential beneficial link between chocolate consumption and heart health. However, the authors stress that further studies are needed to test whether chocolate actually causes this reduction or if it can be explained by some other unmeasured (confounding) factor....

They analysed the results of seven studies, involving over 100,000 participants with and without existing heart disease. For each study, they compared the group with the highest chocolate consumption against the group with the lowest consumption. Differences in study design and quality were also taken into account to minimise bias.

To be fair, the study fine print probably says 100% dark chocolate.

It is not chocolates which reduce heart disease. It is giving chocolates to your sex partner which reduces heart disease. As we all know, sex is a good exercise and a wonderful stress reliever!

This is the kind of research I can sink my teeth into...

I guess it’s time for a repeat of a favorite chocolate recipe, for those of you who missed it. This is GOOD...

Oatmeal Brownie Bars

Melt 1 stick butter and 3 squares unsweetened chocolate together. Make sure the pan is very dry. (melt over very low heat or double boiler, stir constantly and make sure it does not get hot enough to bubble the butter.)

To substitute cocoa powder, 3Tbsp for one square chocolate. Add 1Tbsp oil for other recipes.

Add 1 egg and mix.

Add:

1 tsp vanilla
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup honey (optional)

Mix well.

Add 2 2/3 cup oatmeal and mix well.

Grease a sheet of aluminum foil (I use butter) and form into 8” brownie pan, spread mix into pan. This allows easy removal and cleaning.

Bake at 350ºF 15 minutes

Cool, cut into 2” squares and enjoy your new addiction.

I have more...I’m a chocoholic...looks like I’ll live a long time...Chocolate muffins, chocolate pie, chocolate oatmeal chocolate chip cookies...Chocolate muffins with blueberries are very good too.

I can keep this up for an hour...I better quit I’ll have everybody raiding the pantry...

More than a decade ago, a health study of Harvard graduates found that the most accurate predictor of long life was high chocolate consumption.

It is, I finished off a batch this afternoon. There’s only one thing wrong with it. There’s not enough...Every time I make it I want to make another batch the minute I finish the last one...I have to force myself to wait a while or I’d be much more than 145lbs right now...and then there’s the other chocolate recipes, chocolate ice cream, brownies, custard...Chocolate ice cream with chocolate sauce...that’s good too. Some chocolate chips and a little milk, heat in a microwave, mix.

Wait...where did custard sneak in there...

I’m totally addicted...
