The NFL, Not For Long. Btw, I am one of those lifetime avid watchers who turned the games off because of Kaepernick and the protests.
How about sparing us from going to the Wash. Compost and just list the causes they claim are responsible. Thanks.
The good think is that the people commenting on this at WaPo are disagreeing with the article.
Trump’s fault...really, that’s one of the “reasons.”
And the "potato beetles" planted by the CIA.
To be expected when Russia got a lot of the politics out of farming, and remembered what the actual purpose is.
Maybe the NFL could take note? Nah, they'd rather get their NAACP, NOW, DOJ, etc., placques on their walls...
Just like the sports radio guys, spinning REAL HARD to deny it’s Kaepernick.
Personally I think it’s mostly that, with other in-your-face PC activities and long game delays for video review.
Not one media sports outlet I have seen blames the decline on the disrespect shown for our flag and country. ESPN is probably the worst at utter blindness, but other media I listen to (sat radio) and watch are also blind. It is really simple, people have had enough of seeing overpaid players disrespect the very country that gives them the opportunity to become wealthy. Screw them.
My offer of an alternate theory: Most of the games in the prime time spots have sucked. I watched MNF this week. I watched about a quarter and a half of the first half. It was a terrible game. It looked worse that those crappy FCS games they have on ESPN later in the season on Wednesday nights. I watched the kickoff Thursday night game btwn the Broncos and Carolina which was an outstanding game. I watched my Chiefs come back and win the following Sunday which was also a good game. Every game I have tried to watch since has been poor. Blowouts and bad play. Along with pissing off your core audience with the kneeling, closed fist stuff, no wonder their ratings are down.
The Compost is only capable of yellow journalism, trying to trash Trump 24/7.
Then, the Compost is like all other left wing mediots in America, they turn a blind eye and deaf ear to any story involving the BLM, Muslim Terrorism and Bubba Clinton’s serial rapes.
So, they will never write about the real reason in the fall in NFL ratings, our boycott of the pro BLM thugs in the NFL from top to bottom.
The likely cause of the Washington Post deciding to defend the NFL is ‘the truth hurts’ - - it’s the same truth hurting the MSM and newspaper Industry. Yes, Mark Maske I’m talking to YOU.
The NFL, Target, JCPenney, Macy and the Newspaper Industry are SUFFERING FROM THE SAME CAUSE: THEY GAVE THE FINGER TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AND THE AMERICAN PEOPLE QUIT BUYING THEIR CRAP.
It’s that easy - that simple - and yes, the TRUTH HURTS - hurts out-of-touch ‘elites’ in many professions..
Wake up Mark Maske - look around yourself... ASK questions... notice patterns... it’s all there...
Is the WP stealing communists from Pravda to do their writing?
Since when are Americans supposed to support a privileged punk who disrespects our police and shows no love for his country and flag?
Colin, you are a jerk.
NFL, you are ostriches.
How many times in the weeks ahead are we going to read about the ten reasons the NFL is losing big bucks without putting Colin and his brainless “hate America” copycats at the top of the list.
Colin, you want to protest? Go after men who abandon their kids like yours did.
I’ll give you three reasons: Colon Crapperdick, Colon Crapperdick, and Colon Crapperdick.
I’ll agree with a lack of inspiring teams to watch in big markets being a part of it.
NY Jets/Giants and Chicago Bears are unwatchable this year.
And write off the entire state of Florida.
But this excuse of so many other choices is laughable. There have been hundreds of channels for years now.
I can’t speak for anyone else, but I’ve stopped watching because I won’t watch a bunch of spoiled ghetto retards disrespect the police and the country.
They can keep their heads in the sand.
I’ll keep not watching.
Wouldn’t want to oppress them.
The election might have something to do with it, and cable cord-cutting does have something to do with it, but the vast majority of the decline is due to kneeling during the national anthem and they know it. It’s entertainment and escapist fare, dragging political controversy into it is turning people off in a major way.
Off topic but I missed the ESPN special with Obama the other night. I wonder if Obama pontificated about any of this.
Why does the president go on ESPN to comment on sports and draw parallels to societal issues anyway??? Was he just making yet another liberal political statement???
The flak in the Comments section ought to give the author a clue. I’ve read milder stuff on FR.
