Colin Nathaniel Scott, 23, was with his younger sister when he walked more than 200 yards away from the boardwalk on June 7 to a hot spring called Pork Chop Geyser.
Scott was planning to “hot-spot,” or soak in the water but slipped and fell in when he reached down to check the temperature, television station KULR reported Monday following a Freedom of Information Act request.
The incident was apparently recorded by Scott’s sister, according to the television station, but park officials would not release or comment on the video.

We visited many years ago. It’s a bit disconcerting to pull over to an area covered in macadam so cars can park & discover a hot spot coming up under the macadam & melting through. It had little flags & tape around it. But that’s how dangerous Yellowstone is.
And yes, there are signs EVERYWHERE. Stay on the marked paths!

If you drive through the ‘Glades at night, there are areas of mass frog congregations. Seems like every one of them is waiting to jump up at your headlights. Makes an horrendous sound as you drive through.

Last time I was in Yellowstone, I remember seeing a sign warning of thin crust and bunch of bison tracks in the mud right behind it. I didn’t test my theory but I’m guessing that the crust wasn’t that thin right there.

We were just blessed moving from California and buying someone else’s fantasy house after it was foreclosed on. Ours was the only offer and we were blessed when it was accepted because there was no other way we’d have such a wonderful home!

Been along time, but boardwalk paths with signs warning people not to get off them from what I remember...
I was there many years ago. Yes there are warning signs. This was sheer stupidity. It is not the safest place in the world to visit, but deliberately deciding to take dip in one the hot bubbling areas is just crazy.
We see all sorts of characters lurking around here! Like for instance every day I see this one crazy lady lurking around on the other side of my mirror! She’s nuts!
