She fainted yesterday morning, left the hospital against medical advice because she felt fine. She had a rash at that time.
I managed to talk her into letting me take her back. The ER doctor thinks she has Stevens-Johnson syndrome, a life-threatening skin condition that is a reaction to medication. They put bad cases in the burn unit because the top layer of skin dies.
My mother felt good last night, which is NOT typical of S-J. The treatment protocol isn't well-defined (debate over steroids). A lot depends on the body's resilience and my mother is in her late seventies.
She isn't a Christian, either. Prayers for her body and soul please.
Prayers sent for you and your mother
Strong and stubborn. She left the hospital and walked four long blocks to her car in the rain. At least she fainted near the hospital, because she would have walked four miles.
Will keep your Mom in prayers & thoughts.
Will keep your Mom in prayers & thoughts.
In atypical cases, shingles may manifest as a rash without pain, or the pain may not be attributed to shingles. If it is shingles, the anti-viral drug acyclovir is usually recommended in the early phases. Sun exposure and supplemental Vitamin D may also be helpful. A simple blood test can establish if your mother has a Vitamin D deficiency.
Prayer sent.
