A Southwest Airlines plane made an emergency landing in Charleston, South Carolina, after a baby was born in the middle of the flight.
Airline spokeswoman Melissa Ford tells local news outlets that Flight 556 was on its way from Philadelphia to Orlando, Florida, on Sunday when a woman went into labor.

My wife delivered our third child within 10 minutes of our arrival at the hospital while I was busy talking to the folks in Admissions. Since I had driven them to the hospital my first reaction was, “If I had an inkling it was so close I would have run a few red lights.” And this was two weeks before she was due.

When I was pregnant the first time, in Switzerland, my doc told me to cut down on alcohol to one or two glasses of wine only at dinner. (I happened not to drink at all anyway.) That was in the 90s when over here doctors were saying pregnant women shouldn’t even look at a bottle.
