Curious if both of you realize Trump is not in office.
He hasn’t DONE anything but talk. Amazing desperate some people are to find anything to whine at Trump about daily.
Why do you assume he won’t? You know he has no actually authority to “do” anything yet, right?
This prof plays the typical lib tactic of leading the discussion with a false premise.
Same challenge for you.
Amazing how all the old Cruzites are now busy running around here all worried about Trump.

“THAT is what I think is termed crony capitalism. I think he will do just fine, but the point is well made.”

Your “thinking” is dead wrong, both on cronyism and what the POTUS does!
“Jawboning” has a strong precedent as a POTUS’s weapon in creating policy or changing minds. Its one of very few thing a POTUS can do, constitutionally.. FDR, Truman, JFK were all known for using the technique to successfully change corporate thinking or national policy.
Take your NeverTrump trolling elsewhere!
I won’t be happy if he keeps it up for 4 years. I will be thrilled if he’s setting expectations for ALL companies with a few real, high publicity examples. If all companies start to believe they will get tax and regulatory relief, and worry about losing govt contracts, they can start making decisions today that will MAGA. Trump cannot change taxes and regulations yet but he can talk to CEOs. (and Pence can change taxes/regulations in his state which helps)
I see Trump setting a pro-business tone - not giving away favors. We’ll have to see which view is more correct.
I’ve made more money than 99% of any academic that ever worked at Harvard.
How could that be?
liberals panic as Trump starts fixing stuff!
but ! but ! he CANT do that!!!!!
waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!
ROFL
EXACTLY my point!!!
White privilege, of course, what else?
;-)
I believe PE Trump is trying to set a tone; establish a way of doing business, that tells CEO’s they better not mess with the workers of their businesses. Once the CEO’s get the message, PE Trump will not have to baby-sit them anymore.

This is exactly what Trump is doing. A few high profile examples will give the business community its markers as to whether they really want to move their businesses out of the country or not.
Working for Romney makes one a ‘severe conservative”
Working for Bush makes you a “kinder gentler conservative” or in another word a pushover.
Pretty hilarious....the govt has been micromanaging US companies into the ground for decades
If you have a nickle, and you add a nickle, what do you have?
The answer is: not a dime. You have 2 nickles.
Like Democrats do??
Liberals always project onto others what they do themselves.
[If you have a nickle, and you add a nickle, what do you have?]
I was thinking of the numeral 55. (5 + 5 = 55)
;o)
Crony capitalism is ripping off bondholders to prop up lousy car makers and their unions, closing successful dealerships that contributed to political opponents and reopening dealerships in the exact location run by your contributors.
Micromanage that Mr. Advisor to Bush 2 and TARP.
What sweetheart deal did he make? The State had offered the same sort of incentives for them to stay that States have been making for 100 years. Donald could not give them anything nor did he other than to tell them what he planned for all businesses.
Why do we let the haters define us?
And the result is what exactly?
