Outspoken San Antonio Spurs Head Coach Gregg Popovich had some harsh words for President Donald Trump before his team squared off with the Cleveland Cavaliers Saturday. Popovich slammed Trump to media members, saying that you really cant believe anything that comes out of his mouth.

Shut up and coach old man.
Shut up and coach old man.
Shut up and coach, a**hole.
It sure seems to me that since the campaign started and the election that I’ve heard a lot of hot air coming out of the mouths of people I had never heard of before, this guy is one of them. Unimportant people saying stupid things, just doesn’t interest me.
Spot on.
If he had said that about 0bama he would already be looking for a new job.
From what they quote him as saying, what you have here is a low information type who believes what the media says. Popovich basically has repeated the last three or four liberal media talking points about Trump.
999 of 1000 Freepers could coach the Cavaliers or the Warriors to the NBA Championship this year. The toughest job Phil Jackson had with the Bulls with Jordan, and the Lakers with Kobe and Shaq was setting practice times.
Anyone who still watches the NBA needs their head examined.
Probably not popular in Texas
I cannot quite agree: The Triangle Offense figured prominently in their success.
Having said that, yes, coaches are overrated (and I never liked the Bulls, Lakers, or, especially, Phil Jackson, an effete, condescending hippie.
My head does not need to be examined:
I had season tickets for seven seasons long ago; it was the only sport I ever enjoyed.
Now I boycott.

Popovich is one of the best coaches in the history of the NBA, with five championships and few star players. Weirdly enough, prior to his Trump bashing, his philosophy was to shut up about anything that wasn't basketball related.
That’s why I thought that Larry Brown, though kind of an odd personality, was truly a great coach. Wherever he went he built winning teams, often in places that had not enjoyed success before. You have to have good players to win, but Brown always improved the play of whatever group he had, and knew how to get the material henredef to build a top squad. Lombardi was the same way. He coached multiple high school state championships in basketball having never played the game, and using a coaching how-to book to learn it.
I hear you about the NBA, and I still like and watch college ball BTW.
Why would ESPN even ask this question. Is this the new norm now. You must declare your political allegiance?
Popovich calls our President a liar and I call him an asshole neither means anything - so what?
In the several centuries that Gregg Popovich has been their coach, the San Antonio Spurs have established themselves as the NBAs model franchise, a team that keeps on doing its thing even when lots of other things are going on. The Spurs are basketball cockroaches. The world could come to an end and they would still be ready for the NBA playoffs.
