HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A father was shot and killed in front of his wife and 10-year-old daughter after being carjacked because the killer didn't know how to use a manual transmission, police said.

It happened just before midnight near Richcrest Dr. and Greenbriar Park.

Pedro Aguilar, 47, was in his car on the street in front of an apartment complex when two men in their late teens to early 20's approached him to carjack him, police said.

They weren't able to get the car into drive because it was a manual transmission, not an automatic, and shot the man in anger, police said.

The victim died at the scene.

The two men fled the scene.

Two teens ‘stick’ it to the man.

Sad.

Government solution - ban manual transmissions.

Some people deserve a slow death after they are caught.

The public is being cautioned to be on the lookout for two men in their late teens to early 20’s.

When did “the man” become “Pedro Aguilar”

Sad sad story.

Two subhumans striking out at the nearest target when they confront a challenge.

My friend calls a manual transmission a "Millennial Theft Protection Device".

Stay armed.

Even I can drive a standard. I commuted an hour to and from work for years in a red Honda CRV for years. Great little car.

Houston’s Greenspoint area... better known as “gun’s point”. Sad.

When the MSM consciously leaves out the description of black males it is usually a black male. They are so predictive. I’d be surprised if the perpetrator was of another race.

It is sad and sorry that a husband and father did not have the means and wherewithal at hand to protect himself and his family. He died for the lack of foresight, situational awareness and ability, all else being equal.

Houston’s Greenspoint area.”

Lots of people from NOLA who came over during Katrina live there. Would suspect that the apartment complex where the guy lived is Hispanic though. Several residents interviewed on the news could not speak English.
