I know how vanities are frowned on around here. And I understand fully that policy. But I need to talk to my friends here at FreeRepublic. I have a problem. A serious problem. Not a I-need-six-months-chemo-problem. But a problem that, I have no doubt, you would consider catastrophic.
It is a problem that had me considering drastic options. Extreme options. Irreversible options. I saw no way out. So I prayed for a miracle. My miracle involved buying a lottery ticket. That is was my only way out.
The funny thing is, God's idea of a miracle is vastly different from the idea of stupid mortal humans. What happened, and tears are streaming down the sides of my face as I type this, what happened was that my family (four wonderful daughters, and a truly special wife) rallied around me. They embraced the situation. They even think that this can a new lease on life. It was a response that I had never even considered. God sure does work in mysterious ways. I don't need a lot of responses here. But I can testify that miracles do happen.

I am glad. Some of us have been at points where we made the IRREVERSIBLE option an option when it NEVER can be.
I am THANKFUL To God and to your family for being there for you.
Not even close. I have something better than winning the lotto. That’s the point.

I am a smart ass. I make smart ass comments all the time. My idea of a miracle was winning the lottery. God’s ideas of a miracle is something different. I am losing my house tomorrow at 9:00 am. And yet, my life, MY FAMILY, will go on. That is my miracle.
Nothing lasts but your family.

That saying “God works in mysterious ways” is more than just a saying.
Yes. That is the point. Hardship brings us together. Just said a prayer for you and yours. I REALLY pray for a good outcome for you all.

God makes miracles happen but they are often not the one you were expecting. Sometimes he uses our hardships and our hubris to strip away our pride and cut the legs out from under our self-sufficiency so you will get on your knees and turn to Him and only then will the blessing come. That’s a part of growing old, knowing that He wants you to stop fighting the wars on your own and turn them over to Him. Thank you for sharing.
One of the best times in our lives as a family was losing a house. We grew closer to God and each other.

I needed that because I am so angry over a situation here. I feel extremely disrespected by a person’s actions.
