Southern Cry was literally Slavery.
If it wasn’t for the stupid Southern Democrats we’d never have had Obama and never have fallen in to the position we are in where we are practically a communist state.
It is all the Confederate’s fault and, more so, their successors who implemented Jim Crow and their other Big Government policies.
Well for two-thirds of their population anyway.
Actually the south’s battle cry would have been “slavery!”. Or perhaps a better battle cry would (with stomping feet) have been “Someone won the presidential election we don’t like so we are going to destroy the union.” Much like democrats of today.
Pretty ironic that the slaveholding South had a battle cry of “Freedom”.... don’t you think?
Freedom for who?
After reading several histories of the War Between the States, I came - with some reluctance - to the view that this was indeed a war fought not to free slaves, but to enslave free men.
