Do you carry a revolver? What kind and why?
No revolver for me. They are 18th century anachronisms. Five or six rounds and you’re out of the fight...permanently. The fight will be over long before you can reload. I carry a Glock 23. 14 rounds before I have to worry about reloading. Mag swap out is about one second. With two spare mags, I have 40 opportunities to neutralize any threat. I like those odds much better.
True dat.

I have never found a revolver that was really the be-all and end-all for both concealed carry and open carry. The closest I have come are 3" barreled small-to-medium frame revolvers that can play both roles acceptably. I gave up on light weight revolvers because the lighter they are, the more difficult for me to make hits with. I prefer the Ruger SP101 because it is easier for me to do a detail cleaning than on a typical S&W, not because it is a better revolver in and of itself... call it a "procedural" benefit that outweighs some things that the S&W does better.
On a 3" gun I prefer a hammer spur for SA operation when it is appropriate, but for CCW, a spurless/DAO can overcome crappy or clumsy presentation, even from a belt holster. A 2-1/4" SP101 can pocket carry in a DeSantis SuperFly pocket holster quite nicely, and is also small enough to fit in a car console or door "pockets." I used to stoke a 2-1/4" SP101 with Federal's old Nyclad .38 Special round with complete confidence that the package would at the very least allow me to waddle away to safer pastures. Nowadays I'm not sure anything that isn't belt-fed is sufficient for modern (anti)social encounters.
Smith and Wesson .38 Special. Because it is damn near impossible to fire by accident.

Ruger 327 mag. More power out of a snub plus one more round. That is correct, it has more energy than a 357 magnum from a 2” barrel.
Mine weren’t. I proudly exercise my 2nd amendment. Come and get it if they dare.
I like revolvers but never carried one concealed.
If I were going to, I would try to find a Colt Lightweight Agent.

I’m in California as well as LibWhacker and I carry a knife when I’m not sleeping. I’m not totally into knives but I love my SOG Vulcan Tanto knife.
Still a great revolver, sentimentality aside.
Very much like my choice. I approve.
Zactly...
I have to confess. I’ve never understood how anyone can think a revolver is a good concealed carry option.
Yes, they are fun to shoot. Yes, they are VERY reliable. No, you don’t have to worry about leaving telltale brass in your wake.
Nevertheless, if you must use it in a self defense situation, it’s most likely reactively, not proactively, and chances are quite good you’ll be facing an automatic with more than twice your firepower. Furthermore, the bad guy may SEE he’s facing a revolver and feel emboldened knowing your limitations.
Also, SOP for shooting an aggressor is to continue shooting until the threat is STOPPED. I don’t need to remind anyone here how many anecdotal stories are floating around about how many rounds a bad guy can suck up before you could consider him neutralized.
So I have to consider revolvers, along with sailboats and 1911s, glorious anachronisms, whose value can only be truly appreciated in movies, or when the other guys isn’t actually pointing a gun at you.
Only I know for sure.
I knew there were more of us out there. I carry a Taurus .327 mag in my pocket or my ruger sp101 in a paddle holster. Generally I put hot .32 h&r self defense loads in.
Small, durable, dependable, easy to load, easy to shoot. And affordable.
>>Taurus .38 for my concealed.<<
Ditto, summertime carry
Mr. Murphy waits in hiding until I'm holding a loaded gun. :-)
