I’ve never had an auto trans last longer than 175K.

$1500 to $2000 for a new trans is much more affordable than buying a new car. If you take a $20k car with $10k of maint over 2000k miles, that’s pretty cheap per mile.

Ive never owned a car with less than 175k on it. With a bit of tinkering and basic maintenance I usually get just about 300k before I scrap it and get a “new” vehicle. I drive about 75 miles in city traffic every day. My problem with newer cars is that they are being made so that shade tree mechanics cant work on them.

My 99 Avalon was at 257k when it got totaled last Memorial Day weekend; the tranny was still shifting smoothly. No leaks or any other issues. That plant in Kentucky put out some damn good cars IMHO.

The new Corrola is nice, but I was happy lol. No monthly payments.
