C'mon people now...

I was in about the 3rd grade when I first heard this song.

It was one of the few reasons 1969 didn't suck entirely

To me, 1969 was the single greatest year for rock music. The following list is by no means exhaustive of the quality and creativity that exploded that year, but it gives an idea of the range and depth:

Moody Blues:On the Threshold of a Dream; To Our Children's Children's Children

The Beatles:Abbey Road

Led Zepplin:1st & 2nd albums

The Band:1st album

Neil Young & Crazy Horse:Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere

Miles Davis:In A Silent Way

Crosby Stills & Nash:1st album

Creedence Clearwater:Green River; Willy & the Poor Boys; Bayou Country

Blind Faith:only album

Bob Dylan:Nashville Skyline

Santans:1st album

Chicago:Chicago Transit Authority

Allman Brothers Band:1st album

Jefferson Airplane:Volunteers

Laura Nyro:New York Tenderberry

Quicksilver Messenger Service:Happy trails

It's A Beautiful Day:1st album

Buffalo Springfield:Retrospective

John Mayall:Turning Point

Steve Miller:Your Saving Grace; Brave New World

Spirit:Clear

This is one of the reasons 2015 didn't suck for me... August that year, I went up to San Francisco the weekend before I left for my next job back east. Hostels were too expensive, so I parked my car at a place called Mussel Rock, near Pacifica where the paragliders take off (pic related). I had come in darkness and slept for about 4 hours in my back seat, so I was stunned at how yellow the Vista was come morning, full of flowers in bloom. I listened to that song, feeling a hint of what the hippies must have been after all those years ago. I then proceeded to call much of my family which I had not contacted for ages and talked pleasantly with them, then went up to Golden Gate Park and the art museums there. One of the best weekends of my life, so full of anticipation for the future, and so free from the humdrum in which I live now.
