The Mythical North Korean Threat
G2mil.com ^ | 2003 | Carlton Meyer

[ EXCERPT ]

The Korean conflict is over, but Cold War warriors refuse to accept this reality because they need a “threat.” In 1994, the Military-Industrialist worked the media and politicians into a war hysteria which almost caused President Clinton to order air strikes in North Korea. In his book “Hazardous Duty,” retired Colonel David Hackworth describes his trip to Korea in which he uncovered this phony threat. Fortunately, former President Jimmy Carter heard the war drums and flew to North Korea as a private citizen and ended the phantom crisis.

When Pentagon officials talk about the need to maintain a “two-war” capability, they often refer to Korea. This is absurd since South Korea can crush North Korea without American help. North Korea’s million-man army may look impressive on paper, but remember that Iraq had a million-man army, which also had modern equipment, combat experience, and plenty of fuel.

In contrast, North Korean soldiers suffer from malnutrition and rarely train due to a scarcity of fuel and ammo. Most North Korean soldiers could not attack because they are needed to defend the entire DMZ and coastal approaches (they remember the 1950 landing at Inchon) while entire divisions must remain throughout North Korea to fend off heliborne offensives, food riots, and probable coups.

More like one letter and one word.

Joke.

The meaning is clear though, little piggy kim will extort the world for more and more when he has just one. Btw, I like pigs, so I don’t mean to insult pigs.

So I should give back the medals and promotions I received in Korea because it was all a sham?

The N. Korea threat is NOT mythical. It is unfortunately very real.

It has been very real for a long time, it just took a few years to become obvious to everyone.

The Korean conflict is over

Show me Articles of Surrender or a Peace Treaty, and I won't consider Carlton Meyer a liar.

Without those, the conflict isn't over.

That big boom not to long ago wasn’t mythical.

Neither were the rockets flying over Japan

I reiterate my “Cat’s paw” theory of NK. With NK of course being the paw, and ... wait for it ... CHINA being the Cat.

Fat Kim reminds me of a slight of hand Magician who is dealing a number of cards with his right hand to distract everyone. He doesn’t need those intercontinental missiles.
The most important question to ask ( which nobody does) is:
Where is that new NOKO Sub capable of carrying missiles?
While we focus on his Missiles from N.Korea, while that Sub could be just outside NY or any major city in International waters.
We need to make sure it accidentally smashes into the sea floor, never to be seen again

Kim Jong Un is working toward nuclear parity with us. The Korean War was horribly destructive and we left little standing and many killed. That’s how War is fought and the North was the aggressor but keeping the hate going and vowing revenge has kept the Kims going and in control with an inhuman dictatorship. If we completely backed off the hatred would still be there and the South would be vulnerable to nuclear attacks. Fat Boy would think we were still vulnerable and afraid. The threat would not be gone.

I've lurked for years and its about time I signed up. Given the comments let me clarify what I think:

The DPRK is all but beggging for unification and when it happens the capitol won't be in Pyongyang.

The big question is does China view the DPRK as more of a asset or a liability. If its an asset, they'll keep looking the other way. If its a liability, Trump is a skilled negotiator and making a deal that allows China to save face and get rid of the DPRK is right up his alley.

This is from 2003

North Korea successfully tested an atomic bomb in 2006. Having atomic weapons might not be an insurmountable threat, but it's definitely not a mythical threat.

“The Korean conflict is over,”

When it starts off with a non-factual statement, there’s a problem.
It isn’t technically over, but in a state a cease fire.
Repeatedly violated by the Norks, and ignored by effeminate wannabe leaders.
