I predicted last year that as the NFL TV audiences diminished, some hard nosed CFO’s were going to say, “We are not wasting our hard earned $’s on a dying sport and vanishing audiences.
We are seeing a similar response with the SF Giants in a losing season: Lawyer ads trying to get people to sue drug firms, other drivers and just sue anyone. The same Toyota or Chevron ad a dozen or more times in a single game. Then, a lot of PSA ads.
How does the NFL put the genie back in the bottle? It’s incomprehensible that there were no rules against what Kaepernick started.
Pro football is a joke these day. Why bother with it? Just stupid bread and circuses with a cast of spoiled multi-millionaires. and who in their right mind can identify with any of the player? Just a few really.
I think as you enter the 2018 negotiation period, and salaries go down a notch...players will realize it’s a new era and will direct at the problem. Peer pressure will occur, and certain players will find it hard get contracts. These are all players who need to start thinking about a second profession in life, and watch the mega checks dry up.
Why should the players be punished for the decisions the owners are making? The owners are ruining foitball. Let them learn from their mistakes. Of course, they may never.
