It’s the large amount of money they cost, Medicaid will only pay so much and most of the time it’s voluntary.
My sister has been to countless rehabs over the last 30 years...stays sober for a short time hen it’s right back to the same old.
My sister is OBSESSED with getting sh!tfaced,
She needs to be locked up in a full time, long term care facility.
Unfortunately we are not millionaires and they don’t force these people to stay.
JAIL is the new mental hospitals of today...she’s been recently but unfortunately they let her out back onto the street after a few months.

I don't know about her, but that is the case too often. Many female addicts in management jobs tend to maintain their positions and avoid prosecution by using their "social skills" and family ties. Some of them hire and protect drug dealers. Some of them manage to hold their jobs and cause suffering for years before being taken down by their problem.

There have been some interesting cases in the news about illegally armed overnight employees selling drugs from drive-through windows in Midwestern fast food restaurants.

My point was that "rehab" would never have fixed her.

Powerful nations used to establish penal colonies to deal with people like this. Just send them away to some place where they can fend for themselves -- or not.

When someone like this has given every indication that she doesn't have the interest and/or the capability to be a productive citizen in a free society, then there's really nothing that can be done to deal with her.

Jailing dealers in an age where we complain that too many minorities are in prison is a recipe for revolving door justice.

Then minorities must stop involving themselves in criminal activity. That is a pretty sure way to stay out of prison. But of course, whitey is saying this, so they won't listen.

I apologize for assuming that there were multiple fathers of the kids. I don’t believe it was an outrageous assumption, though in this case apparently wrong, though a DNA test might be an interesting exercise, given that she was hanging out getting high with two other men when she died.

Yes! They're still doing their part by preaching about how husbands cause all of the problems. They also find homes for addicted, drug-dealing women, who get a good flow of non-husband visitors into the neighborhood. It's good for business, you know.
