Well, here’s a little food for thought, IF these statistics are correct:

I have heard claimed that nearly 1/5 of the present US population is foreign born. My wife is foreign born, and I have many citizen or resident foreign born friends, who are great contributors to this country, but a number like 1/5, if correct, raises SERIOUS questions about assimilation and retention of national identity.

I have also heard claimed that approximately 1/5 of all refugees and immigrants in the world are in the US. If true, that is an astounding number. We are no longer a country that simply needs more bodies, just to fill up the land, or as cannon (or arrow) fodder, or whatever.

If ever a place needs to be taken over and ruled by a more advanced nation—its Haiti. They were almost better off under Papa Doc—an awful tyrant. Hillary and Bill need to be exiled to Haiti and pay those people back for the money they took! I think the Haitian People would string em up! It could be a beautiful resort land with a little effort. Maybe the Mafia could take over—put in some casinos and brothels—a Disneyland like park. A little law and order-—and put those people to work and it might be a great place. Maybe Trump could fix it.

First of all, stop sending so many doctors and food to Haiti, all it does is put Haitian doctors and farmers out of work, and there’s no way for Haiti to be self-sufficient, they will always rely on outside aid.

This has nothing to do with the hurricane or the earthquake. Haiti has been a (Trumpism redacted) for as long as I can remember and doubtless a lot longer than that.

Norway is not, and never has been a (Trumpism redacted).

Again, our BRILLIANT President has used non-PC language to FORCE Democrats into the trap of DEFENDING an indefensible position.

Having lived and worked there in the 80's I have mixed thoughts about this.

The Haitian cycle of Dependence Mentality just increases as time goes on and one crisis begets another. Here we are at the 8th anniversary of the Haitian earthquake (today!) and areas of Port-au-Prince still look like the quake hit last week!

Our denomination had a group of leaders from several African nations come to Haiti to encourage and instruct the national church leaders at that time (1980's). These were a variety of African national church leaders who had experienced great spiritual, social and economic change in their churches when they kept their eyes on Jesus and looked to The LORD, not another nation, for their help. Back then these brethren told us that they were amazed and appalled by the Dependence Mentality they saw and heard from the Haitian church leaders.

The fundamental problem with Haiti though cruel to say so is that there are too many Haitians for the island to support by several million. Hispaniola is too small. The Dominican Republic won’t let Haitians in as they don’t want useless breeders there with all of the crime, drugs and other social pathologies they bring.

Father in law, a minister went to Haiti on a missionary a few years back.
Said it was a lost cause. I was shocked as he was the most positive Christian I have ever known.

Hi Dolly. I stopped posting during the election but Jim left my account up. Was supporting Cruz for prez but he lost me when he picked Carly Fiorina for his Vice President. Voted for Trump and think that he is trying to do good things for our country.
Miss The Finest and everyone at P&P. Did Snugs and MB leave FR?

“Merit based”

As someone pointed out in a thread above, at one time:
“The U.S. only took you in if you were healthy, of good moral character which was verified, and with the promise of work in the U.S., and sponsored by a U.S. citizen who pledged to cover your expenses the first 5 years rather than you becoming a burden on the state.”
Under Obama, new immigrants (*real* immigrants) weren’t even required to swear allegiance to this country.
In sum, we’re allowing people into our country from the third word who are more interested in living free than breathing free.
And some of them, many muslims, `boomerang’ Mexicans like Kate Steinle’s killer and the `Boston Marathon’ Tsarnaevs, are simply dangerous as well as ingrates.
