That said....I have water to grow a garden.
Good for you. We collect rainwater from the roof and put it into a swimming pool to use for the dry months. Mo. has pretty good rain fall except for July and August.
I try to plant my garlic in late October and it does well except the years we get the the garlic rust...
Thanks to moderating temperatures, have been able to plant the daffodil bulbs which have wintered over in the fridge. After only a few days, there are green shoots poking through the ground! Lots of clean up when it stops raining. Mainly the collection of dried leaves which seem to have wandered over to the front door.
Neat. I love daffodils, and other yellow bulbs.

I have a rain barrel near a downspout for roof water to drain, with an inserted diverter in the downspout to switch to the rain barrel to collect the water. I let the first dirty water from the roof continue to drain through the downspout,until that dirty part is gone, then switch it to the rain barrel. I have four plastic blow up kid’s pools to put in the back to collect rain water.
All this is for emergency water. I have a Big Berkey water purifier to turn all that water into good drinking water or cooking water, etc. If I have plenty of good water from other sources, I can use that collected water for growing plants.
These townhouses have a swimming pool and it’s close to my townhouse. I could use that water for plants or put it through the Big Berkey to drink/cook/whatever.
I’ll write about a Silcock key everyone should have in his/her car for emergency water.

Emergency Water Source in Urban Area
Let’s say you are away from home, in town where there are commercial buildings but none are open –no building is open, not even restaurants. An emergency happens and you need to get home or maybe you can’t get home. There is a pure water source right where you are. Rule: Always have some type of water container in your car or with your person, could be an empty water bottle, the ones about 17 oz., anything to collect water – bigger is better. There is a collapsible water jug in the trunk of my car.
You need to buy one item that is less than $10 on Amazon or at any hardware store. I also see one for less than $9 at Lowes and Home Depot. What strange thing is this to allow you to have water in town? It is a Silcock key (some sellers call this a Silcox key).
A commercial building has a water outlet on the outside of the building. Had you thought about that? Start looking on the outside of commercial buildings to find this outlet in order to assure yourself this is true. That outlet is fixed so it won’t freeze in cold weather so don’t expect to see a plain exposed pipe/faucet like you have at your house outside – it may have some kind of cover on it with the heavy-duty pipe inside with a place to fit the key or have no cover but be an exposed fancy heavy-duty pipe with a place to fit the key.
A Silcock key will open that outlet and you have pure water. The key you want has four sizes of key on it. I saw one that is just one size and you don’t want that one. One with four sizes of key assures you will have the right size to insert in the outlet and start water flowing. After gathering your water, turn it off with the key.
Are you stealing water if you do this? Technically, you are. If the building was open, you could fill your water bottle at a water fountain inside – is that stealing? No one would accuse you of stealing water if you filled your water bottle in the building. If the building is closed and you must have water in an emergency situation, use the key. When the emergency is over, you may go to the company and offer to pay them an amount for the water you took but I doubt they will take it.
Keep this Silcock key in your car or in a backpack if you carry one all the time, or in your Bug Out Bag if you keep one in your car. Make sure a Silcock key is in your car.
Consider people in Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico after the hurricane floods. They could have gotten good water out of closed commercial buildings if they had a Silcock key. All that water was still in the locked buildings but they could not get to it. Get yourself a Silcock key today, okay?

we don’t use any pesticides on our property (too many of us are allergic causes massive migraines) and we have a gentleman on the next street who has a bunch of bee hives, they come and “eat” at our blueberry bushes every year. He gives us a discount on honey.
Looking forward to your book, and like you I miss Johnny...funny, wise...seems all the good ones are leaving, that’s why so many wondered about you. Glad you’re happy and around again great Lady, you’ve given some of the best advice possible on so many subjects.

No, you “ain’t”. You are a caring person who can love others. Speaking of love, I wrote this today to a Christian friend:
If, when everyone in this country got up in the morning, we said out loud to ourselves, “I will be like Christ today”, behaviors would change radically.
I teach a Bible class, and will say that to them this coming Saturday when we meet.

About those blueberries. They are high in antioxidants. When my Bob had bladder cancer (before I knew him), the treatment scrambled the inside of his bladder; it was mush. Bob was eating gobs of blueberries every morning with his cereal. His bladder inside was healing so fast, the surgeon said he had never seen anything like that and he attributed it to the blueberries saturating his bladder with antioxidants. It has been ten years since that cancer and it hasn’t come back.
We never miss having plenty of blueberries with our cereal.
We are living well, able to walk well and do what we need to do and want to do - I am 84, he is 83.
I wish I had your blueberry bushes and I want you to eat blueberries every day. When yours are out of season, break down and buy some, okay?

The weekend weather was fabulous here in Central Missouri and I took full advantage. Probably overdid it, but I’m behind so I did all I could.
Had seed and fertilizer on hand to top-dress the horse pastures and hay fields. Went to start the old Farmall on Saturday and it wouldn’t. Dragged it out of the barn and over to my workshop. Breaker points were kaput - broken spring - had a new set on the shelf so it didn’t take long to get that going. I spread lespedeza seed and urea fertilizer on the horse pastures, lespedeza/red clover mix on one hay field, and timothy/red clover mix on the other hay field. 20 acres or so between the three fields.
I hooked up the trash pump and drained the pond. Buying a larger pump was a good move. I should be able to keep the water out and hopefully get that project finished when warm weather arrives.
Still need to prune the orchard trees. Maybe this weekend...
Weather has been good here too. Today is nice. May get outside and do a few things this afternoon.
