Ancient tools found in India tell a new story of when humans migrated from Africa

(CNN)Thousands of stone tools dating back as far as 385,000 years that have been uncovered in India suggest humans might have migrated from Africa much earlier than previously thought.

Until now, many researchers believed that ancient tool-making technology -- chipping off sharp-edged pieces of stone from larger rocks to make primitive axes, knives and cleavers -- came to India between 140,000 and 90,000 years ago.

Wasn’t there another similarly dated discovery recently in Israel?

Amazing.

When I visited Mongolia in 2016, my guide told me that the Gobi desert was the cradle of human civilization.

The research of the migrations of ancient humans (pre-humans?) is fascinating. Sometimes, I think I went into the wrong field.

Stranger In A New Land (Archaeology)

"Image: JOHN GURCHE PORTRAIT OF A PIONEER With a brain half the size of a modern one and a brow reminiscent of Homo habilis, this hominid is one of the most primitive members of our genus on record. Paleoartist John Gurche reconstructed this 1.75-million-year-old explorer from a nearly complete teenage H. erectus skull and associated mandible found in Dmanisi in the Republic of Georgia. The background figures derive from two partial crania recovered at the site. "

As a retired chip-maker, I often feel the same way. The reality is, that if I had become an archaeologists I could not have retired at age 50, as I did.

So....

Just because you find some old bones in Africa does not mean all humans came from there. There has never been a large civilizations there. That continent has everything you want so why did civilization spring up elsewhere?

Advanced civilization needs clothing and tool making. And the need for strong buildings which can be secured from cold and from predators. Africa at the equator is just too warm. No need for clothing. No need to adapt.

Well the question would arise, do you have a strong enough arm for right field? :0)

One other idea about civilization else where. Africa at the equator had long periods of drought. One cannot adapt to eating sand. Zero rain means zero vegetation and zero game animals. Therefore the humanoid life forms had to leave in order to survive. Colder weather climates had snow melt and game animals which would drink from the snow melt waters.
