Gorilla Statue Removed After Complaints It Was Racially Insensitive
CORSICANA (CBSDFW.COM) A statue of a gorilla, and prime attraction for kids at the Community Park playground in Corsicana was removed by the city.
A spokesperson for the city said some community members found the gorilla offensive racially insensitive in some form, and requested its removal from the park.
We can understand this, because we have an obligation to listen to all our citizens, to determine what is offensive and not, especially in public places, said Corsicana Mayor Don Denbow.

Are they going to ban bananas next?
No more fried chicken at the park!! Offensive !!
Gorillas to be removed from zoo is next.
Isn’t that kind of a racist move?
The reason I ask is that I’m a 67 year old white male who has been living in a white privilege bubble all of my life so I wouldn’t really know.

The mayor’s statement is illustrative of EXACTLY what’s wrong with goofy politicians today who are intimidated by the media and loud mouths. Namely, YOU CANNOT MAKE “ALL OUR CITIZENS” happy ALL THE TIME.
If some IDIOT has his or her feelings hurt by a gorilla statue and “sees” racism they need to go to a SHRINK !
People see what’s in their minds.
If you show someone an inkblot and they see sex it’s ‘cause they have a dirty mind.
If someone sees a gorilla and sees a certain racial group, they’re bigots.
When I see a gorilla (or a gorilla statue) I think to myself: "There is a gorilla (or a gorilla statue)."
As far as I am concerned there is something seriously wrong with anyone who sees a gorilla (or a gorilla statue) and thinks to themselves: "That's racist".
Doesn’t this simply act to reinforce and confirm the idea that blacks are like gorillas?
What’s racist, a statue of a gorilla in a park? Or looking at a statue of a gorilla in the park and thinking African American?
Who looks at a gorilla and thinks “black people”?
I assume liberals requested it be removed and that would answer my question.
Harambe weeps.
It takes a mentally ill leftist to see something like this in a park as racist.
Of course they even removed the rocket ships from the parks, the ones kids use to climb on and have fun. The rocket ships were not racist, but too dangerous for kids, someone could get hurt.
And these people vote....
A gorilla statue is racially insensitive? What race was the gorilla?
Is Gorilla Glue racist? I need to know if I should start boycotting them.
