I feel sorry for both her and her husband. Why would a person like this marry a man, and why would she stay with a man who was so far from whatever it is she is looking for and continue for years when she would not "let him kiss" her? Why would her husband stay with a cold and malicious witch long enough for reading a novel to become a habit of hers?
