Full title: 'They are refusing to make a purchase': Philadelphia cops release Starbucks manager's 911 call that led to two black men being arrested and sparked coffee chain boycott
Police have released the 911 call a Philadelphia Starbucks manager made claiming that two black men wouldn't leave the store, which ultimately led to their arrests and widespread calls to boycott the coffee chain.
The brief 911 call, which was released by Philadelphia Police on Tuesday, shows manager Holly Hylton reporting the two men for not making a purchase at her store last week.
'Hi, I have two gentlemen at my cafe that are refusing to make a purchase or leave. I'm at the Starbucks at 18th and Spruce,' she said in the call made at 4.37pm last Thursday.
In addition to the 911 call, police also released several recordings that captured the communications between dispatch and officers en route to the Starbucks.

‘Hi, I have two gentlemen at my cafe that are refusing to make a purchase or leave. I’m at the Starbucks at 18th and Spruce,’
Notice how she used the term ‘gentlemen’, my gosh! Such blatant racism! It’s a micro-aggression, or maybe mini-aggression, or maybe a semi-smallish aggression?
I hope the above sentence was clear. Thanks
How Freudian of me: I read your comment as “toilet.”
LOL
Starbucks deserves this. You reap what you sow. I haven’t been in the place for a number of years now, since they Starbucks owner effectively said he didn’t want conservative customers. I’d dance on their grave if they ever went bankrupt.
I’m stunned that there is more to the story than we are being told by the drive by media!!!
Same reason why many public libraries are starting to have hours to keep people away.
Certain groups can not be asked to leave.
I have a friend is a professional troublemaker, back when Starbucks Baristas were yelling at people with some political slogan. He got the bright idea to go in and order the stickiest sweetest coffee drink they had and they yelled at him and he jerked at the yelling, dropped the coffee, spilled it all over the floor, and they did give him another coffee (as he profusly “apologized”)...but they didn’t yell at him a second time and they had to come clean up the mess.
Years ago, I was head of Security for a large chain store. I noticed a black guy and someone who was obviously his black mentor, enter the front of the store. The mentor looked around and pointed to spot where the kid walked over to, assumed a military “Attention Stance”. He wasn’t doing anything but making a jackwagon of himself. The manager and Ass. Mgr. (not a typo) asked will you throw him out/ call the cops? I said “Why? He ain’t doing anything but making an ass of himself. Do you want a lawsuit?” I let him stand there, very obvious to every customer, who laughed at him. His mentor and seven kids were sitting in the parking lot waiting for me to do something they could get ‘reparations’ for. I sent one of the cashiers out to them with coffee. As we got closer to closing time (2 hours later)I walked to the Community Organizer and let him know once everyone got out of the store I’d have the little tool arrested. He got out of the van, called the kid off and as he walked past me, the mentor mumbled “Fork you, honky.”
Today the same crowd is demanding free coffee reparations from starbucks across the usa. They are getting it too.
Your comment is a meta-comment on vast swaths and demographics across our balkanized country.
Some peoples just can't follow the rules.
And yes, I said "peoples".
What if youre carrying an axe in an axe-free zone? Then they cant axe you to leave.
1. I would not use 9-1-1 to call about a pair of losers loitering. That number is for emergencies. I would call the non-emergency number to have these deadbeats removed.
2. These losers should have left immediately as soon as the manager asked them to leave, and they should have left immediately as soon as the police asked them to leave. Private property means something, and they brought the arrest on themselves (I assume that was the plan).
That's a dandy idea-r.
Man I love their coffee, but hate hate hate their mamby pamby liberal crap.
This is out of the Jesse Jackson playbook. Blacks have been doing this for years. Go into a business (large chains preferably with large amount of cash), create a scene, claim racism, shake down the owners for large donations. Jesse Jackson and others made a substantial living, and their children, for years doing this shake down.
Starbucks thought they were immune but just haven’t been free enough with the cash. They will have to give many Starbucks franchises to people of color, who will then run them into the ground, ruin the Starbucks brand and, well another big company with big ideas down the tube.
Remember all those lawsuits against Microsoft and then we had MSNBC and all that liberal drivel, Same thing with Denny’s restaurants.
But the liberals can go in there with their laptops, buy one cup of that (awful) coffee, and sit, literally for hours, while they surf the net.
SB has opened a big, BIG, can of worms...this incident might just lead to their demise.
We’ll see if the “compassionate” libs still do business with them, if BLM doesn’t burn them down before then. Take away their libs, and business will be very slim.
She called them gentlemen.
How utterly RAAAAAACIST of her!
Lol.
Not "can'y", but "won't".
I see them everywhere J-walking, walking against lights, smoking, doing whatever the posted rules disallow.
This works until they are confronted my immovable and uncaring reality. Here in Phoenix a woman was killed, when she J-walked with her bike. She was struck and killed by an Uber driverless vehicle.
Yes, it was a major safety-critical failing by a system which is supposed to save lives and reduce injuries. But I'm sure it will have a lasting impact on the lawless who will do a doubletake next time an Uber or Waymo driverless vehicle passes by.
It is called Black Entitlement as opposed to White Privilege.
