Sexual Misconduct Was Extensive At Coachella’s First Weekend, Report Says

In a piece published Wednesday, journalist Vera Papisova said she was groped 22 times over a 10-hour period while attending Coachella, saying that she was “repeatedly violated by strangers.” Papisova described being followed, grabbed, insulted, spoken to inappropriately and groped on multiple occasions.

Teen Vogue said all 54 women who spoke to the magazine during Coachella had a story about being sexually assaulted or harassed over that weekend.

Meanwhile, Indio police would not confirm to CBS2 how many complaints of sexual misconduct were made during the first weekend.

...

“I would’ve expected to see something on their website, in terms of what to do if that happens to you since it is such a prevalent issue at music events, in general,” Papisova said.

...

Last week, the program coordinator for the Sexual Assault Response Team at Eisenhower Hospital in Rancho Mirage told KMIR-TV that it sees a major spike in calls during Coachella, often getting a month’s worth of calls in just the two weekends. Many of the cases involve drugs, date rape drugs and alcohol, KMIR reports.

Yup.

And although young ladies dress sometimes too skimpily (in my opinion) people need to know how to keep their hands to themselves.

Only if she doesn’t want you to. Or changed her mind. Or her girlfriend doesn’t like it because she’s jealous. Or her gay best friend does’t like it because he’s got the hots for you. Or her mom and dad spot her.........

Quite so.

Fondling a complete stranger, though, probably does.

Is that stranger a potential hook up?

Seriously, just keep your hands to yourself and your mouth shut.

I have nothing against dancing in public as long as it’s kept decent.

Crowdsurfing seems to beg for groping, feeling up, etc. If you are a participant you know what to expect. If you don’t enjoy that, don’t crowdsurf.

I am not able to keep up. Is this week women are proud to be sluts or nuns?

I thought it read “flatulence of blackness”

“Teen Vogue said all 54 women who spoke to the magazine during Coachella had a story about being sexually assaulted or harassed over that weekend.”

Right. But isn’t that kinda the point of going there, especially for teenage girls looking to grab the undivided attention of those of the straight male teenage persuasion?

Well not real sexual assault. But then look at the writer’s own list of being “repeatedly violated by strangers”- it includes being ‘insulted’, being ‘spoken to inappropriately’, and ‘being followed’. I’ll grant her the being groped part is sexual assault, but the inclusion of the other stuff ought to make you wonder what even the groping involved. I’m betting it’s a whole lot tamer than what the term sexual assault conjures up.

Your daughter is smart. In here chosen profession she’ll never run out of clients who are dying to meet her.

I took the church kids to a two day christian music festival once. 12,000 people and maybe 100 portajohns.

By early evening they were full to the top.

“I don’t even know what sexual assault or sexual harassment means anymore.”

According to my son who works for a large corporation just saying,”Nice dress!” can be considered harassment.

It’s perfect for her. She doesn’t like people and the dead don’t talk.

Reminds me of the charted New Years Eve bus trip i took to Montreal back around 1990.
bus broke down twice on the ride up and twice on the ride home. By the end of the ride the toilet was overflowing down the middle aisle of the bus.
Pretty NASTY

When we finally got off in front of city hall in Boston the tour operator actually announced that she was keeping our security deposits for damage to the bus.
After our group reaction she quickly changed her mind.

ah the good old days..
