Twitter was incensed Saturday after Donald Trump used Barbara Bush’s funeral as an opportunity to tout his private business in a tweet, dubbing his Mar-a-Lago golf resort the “Southern White House.”
Trump noted that he would be watching Bush’s funeral — on TV — at his golf resort.
The latest “southern” title of Trump’s private “White House” was particularly galling to many who called it a “dog whistle” to racists. Trump used to refer to Mar-a-Lago as the “Winter White House.” The “Southern White House” was where Confederate president Jefferson Davis lived during the Civil War.
Angry tweets also pointed out that it’s the only “White House” where taxpayers have to either pay a $200,000 membership fee to visit it or know a member who can afford those fees to invite them to visit.

President Truman always referred to Key West as the “Southern White House”. So it is bad only if a Republican says those words. Get a life or move away, preferably the latter.

Mary, Mary, Mary. Mar-a-Lego is not a resort. It is a private residence. As such it is one of the finest, best appointed homes in America. it is the president’s home where he has entertained leaders from around the world who have specifically requested attendance at Mar-a-Lego. It is most appropriately the Southern White House.
One thing I can say about yahoo is that If you read the comments to the articles it is obvious that, for the most part ,the comments do not reflect the view of the so called journalists writing the articles or the folks at yahoo.
Neither did Clinton, he mooched off his wealthy donors and went to Martha’s Vineyard every chance he got and Obama did the same.
