Rachel Lee Brand (born May 1, 1973) is an American lawyer, academic, and former government official. She served as the United States Associate Attorney General from May 22, 2017, until February 20, 2018, when she resigned to take a job as head of global corporate governance at Walmart.[1] Brand was the first woman to serve as Associate Attorney General.[2] She also served as Assistant Attorney General for the Office of Legal Policy in the George W. Bush administration and was appointed by President Barack Obama to serve on the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board. Prior to becoming Associate Attorney General, Brand was an associate professor at Antonin Scalia Law School.[3][4]

Ah, technically speaking, you're right, of course. I failed to make the distinction. I can see Mueller reporting to RR, but Wray should have no obligation to ultimately report to RR over Sessions. Unless there is some chain of command thing that goes through the Assistant AG.

The reason why all of this matters is because the associate attorney general is the designated successor to the Justice Department’s second-highest ranking official, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. And it is Rosenstein, thanks to the recusal of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who authorized Mueller’s investigation in the first place — and who is the only government official with the legal authority to directly fire Mueller and otherwise terminate his investigation. In other words, Rosenstein is the crucial fulcrum between the political leadership of the Trump administration and the quasi-independent special counsel. The president cannot directly interfere with the special counsel’s investigation without going through — or getting rid of — Rosenstein.

I think the point of Q mentioning her was to say that they next in line after Rosenstein is gone would have been Brand but she's out (why? black hat) and the next in line is this Pinocchio fellow.

I think I read that right.

We need to find out if Pinocchio is a bad guy.
