Videos and pictures at link. I believe the death toll will rise and we may never know the final count.
I can only imagine what would happen in Hawaii if there was a massive eruption.

Volcan de Feuego is belching smoke most days. I go to Antigua for vacation every year. Due to the sulfur in the ash, a friend of mine there said you need to brush the ash off your car before it turns into acid in the rain.
I pray everyone can recover from this. It seems Hawaii is worse.

I can only imagine what would happen in Hawaii if there was a massive eruption. Very different types of volcanoes. The volcano in Guatemala is a stratovolcano, which is much more prone to violent eruptions with pyroclastic flows. Hawaii is a shield volcano which tends to be lava flows which are less likely to catch people miles away from the volcano.

Last week I read where there were some folks a bit worried about debris covering up and blocking steam vents in Hawaii. This would not cause a massive eruption but it could potentially hurl some very large volcanic rocks a good distance.
Keep in mind, I have an elementary knowledge of volcanoes and I don't claim to be an expert of any sort.

That is still far less dangerous than a pyroclastic flow. Think Vesuvius and Mt. St. Helens.

Covered with ash like Pompeii statues? Wouldn’t 1300 degrees reduce the bodies to ash anyway?

Yes, but if a rock hit a soft left wing libtard’s house in Hawaii and knocked over their prize unicorn collection and antique skittles bowl it would be devastating.

Ash wouldnt hold 1300F for long. As opposed to molten lava which would.

Yes, but this is a humid heat. It's a different kind of heat. It creates a different kind of ash.sarc.

Covered with ash like Pompeii statues? Wouldnt 1300 degrees reduce the bodies to ash anyway? The Pomepeii statues aren't actual people turned into stone or covered in hard rock. The people, probably many already dead from the poisonous gases emitted from the volcano, were covered with a massive piles of hot volcanic ash that solidified into stone. Their bodies decayed leaving their bones and artifacts in a body-shaped cavity in the rock. The archaeologists figured this out and poured in plaster to get the haunting statues of people in their death 2000 years ago.

“bodies to ash”
No because the ash also smothers the oxygen so there is only a limited amount available to burn the body to ash.
They are cooked in place, just like pompeii.

I think the danger is that this eruption may be a precursor to an even bigger eruption. And it can happen in Central America, a part of the world with a similar tectonic plate movement as the Indonesian Archipelago, an area known for HUGE eruptions.

p.s. the pompeii “bodies” are actually concrete statues.
The original bodies ultimately decayed leaving a hole. During excavation, they pulled the bones out and filled the hole with concrete to create the statue.

Prayers for those who are suffering and for those who have been taken.
Brings to mind an old Guatemalan saying "The country is going from Guatemala to Guatepeor". Or in English from Guate bad to Guate worse.
