Smith wrote a post on Facebook letting people in his community know that he wanted to offer free lawn care services for those in need who lacked the time, ability or resources to maintain their own yards. He set a personal goal to mow 40 yards. Within two months, he had mowed over 100.
A few months later, Smith founded Raising Men Lawn Care Service with the mission to inspire boys (and girls) to help their neighbors in need. In 2017, he took things one step further by organizing the 50 Yard Challenge, inspiring kids worldwide to mow 50 lawns for free for people in their community who are elderly, disabled, veterans or single moms.
The challenge has a reward system similar to the belts used in the martial arts. Kids are rewarded with a new colored T-shirt for every 10 lawns they cut until they reach their goal of 50 lawns. Once they hit that milestone, they get a black T-shirt, a visit from Smith, and a brand new lawnmower to continue their work. Smith and his co-founder, Terrence Stroy, keep Raising Men Lawn Care going via donations from private sponsors and through their website. Monetary donations go towards lawn equipment, gas, drinks and snacks for the kids, etc.
There are currently around 204 kids in the 50-yard challenge, which means 10,200 yards will be mowed for free throughout the U.S.. Smith himself recently completed his annual goal of mowing lawns in all 50 states. In May, he started in Wisconsin and finished in Hawaii in July. But just because he's met that goal doesn't mean he's done for the year. There are still many requests to fulfill and grass to cut.

Aren’t there 7 more?
My dishes need washing...
The libs will shut this down on several grounds. Child labor. Slave labor. Non-union labor. Unlicensed business. Unregistered charity. Unsafe work environment. Global warming due to gasoline engines, etc, etc.
Single moms can cut their own lawns.
Or their kids can cut them.
Taking jobs away from illegals
Years ago we had a ‘car repair ministry’ held in the church parking lot one Saturday per month. Some of us guys would do light repairs or maintenance on those in ‘need’ . Usually single moms or females. One black girl Charlotte had a 2 year old Toyota with 52/k miles and when I changed the oil it came out liquid black like shoe polish. It was the first oil change she had in those 2 years time. Hello— hopefully she got an education on oil change scheduling tips.
Amen. I would not presume they needed a mans help. Kinda sexist to assume that.
Obviously, the baby-daddy is too busy to help.
They just use you. Since its free they also dont really value what you are doing for them, theres no frame of worth reference for them to derive proper value of worth from.
Some years ago was riding with the second Mrs. Lurkin’s sister (in a Toyota) and noted it was running very rough. Asked her: When was the last time you checked the oil? She didn’t know.
She pulled over, I popped the hood and ran out the dip stick. The only oil was some dried up crust.
This person has a Masters Degree and was teaching grade school. Her hubby was a high school science teacher!
Must say though, the people who brought us Pearl Harbor build some rugged automobiles.
Don’t think very much of the elderly and disabled do you?
Some people are altruistic like this but never forget that altruism is still ultimately self serving.

Do it all in ONE day, then we’ll talk...

That right there is American ingenuity, brother...

Where it actually rains
I know a guy who changed his oil three times in 96k miles trying to ruin a company truck to get a nicer one.
The Ranger was tougher than that. It survived the time he was assigned. Later, it was stolen and totalled.
Wouldn’t it be easier to install Artificial Grass? #;^)
I cut my own grass.
Maybe next year, I will hire someone.
