America’s Next Civil War Will Be Worse Than Our Last
The American Spectator ^ | 07/26/18 | H. W. Crocker III

Posted on 07/26/2018 7:41:23 AM PDT by Enlightened1

In the summer of 1862, just weeks before the Battle of Sharpsburg (or Antietam) — the bloodiest single day of fighting in American history — Union Captain George Armstrong Custer attended the wedding of Confederate Captain John “Gimlet” Lea at Bassett Hall in Williamsburg, Virginia, as best man. The Union officer was dressed in blue, the Confederate officer in grey, and Custer being Custer spent the next two weeks flirting with the Southern belle cousin of the bride, even joining her in singing “Dixie.”

At one point she told him, “You ought to be in our army.”

“What would you give me if I resigned my commission in the Northern army and joined the Southern?”

“You are not in earnest, are you?”

He wasn’t, of course. Custer was nothing if not loyal, and he believed that he was bound to the Union by the oath he had sworn at West Point, whatever his affection for Southern officers and their ladies.

Such gallantry seems unthinkable today, when members of the Trump administration are hounded from restaurants and theatres, and Confederate officers like John Lea, if they are remembered at all, are considered precursors of the German National Socialists, and their once famous and respected commanders like Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, and Jeb Stuart have their statues toppled and banished from public squares, their names stripped from public schools, and their memories spat upon and disgraced.

The Republicans beat the Democrats in the last Civil War (1861 - 1865).

The Urban Liberal tax and spend people beat the Rural Conservative free trade advocates because they had four times the population.

It won’t be safe to be within 200 miles of the big Urban hell holes. I am well within the chaotic death zone of Atlanta, when EBT goes down.

Oh, don't be so dramatic. (/sarc) They just want to play friendly games with you. One is the knockout game.

I dont disagree. But we need to know the “Harper’s Ferry” moment when it happens.

Those things are not always recognized when they happen.

You are partially correct. There will be no chance of a guerrilla war in fly over country. That is preposterous. The governors will call up reserves and build small armies to keep the peace in fly over land.

On the coast their will be anarchy, I agree. The country is to big and too populated to paint with such a broad brush. It really is 50 countries, it is just that most of us have forgotten that. I'll come back....

I still have a few conservative friends that roll their eyes when I mention the prospect of civil war. I wonder if anyone was rolling their eyes in 1860.

You say you must move out, which is what I would expect you to say. What you are NOT saying is that you are planning and prepared to be where you will be needed in the coming fight. (I don’t blame you one bit.)

This is another point about our side, we do not rise up to defend others, (well yes a few do here and there,) we look out for number one. Consider just one example: when one of our side is arrested on something like say a gun charge in a liberal city, our side immediately castigates him as a fool and proudly states the resolution to never go to such a place.

You cannot have a civil war when one side will do anything other than fight. Tell me how I am wrong.

Not much. Might have starve out Lincoln. But it should be relatively mild.

If you live in red mid western state your legislature and governor will temporarily fill in and will be there for you. Of this I am sure. But make no mistake the converse is also true, if you live in a blue state, I feel for you. You will be the enemy my friend. Either fight guerrilla style or get to a red state.

Exactly, the red states wouldn’t even know there was anarchy on the coasts.

One substation. ONE, and the whole west coast electrical grid goes down.

Want to bet the enemy caves?

Georgia is a red state, and there would be a bloodbath around Atlanta and Savanah.

Today, there is no such observance of a commandment. There will be no help from the other side during a respite, assuming anybody would even have a respite in CW II.

I figure any "new civil war" will be like the Tet Offensive...every day! The Liberal Leftists will have their hands full trying to keep the riots within their own city hellholes at bay, and will not be able to do much more than incursion type of attacks, when opportunities strike.

For those of us outside of the big cities or in areas where the bigger cities will be secured by the Conservatives, will have to worry about the Tet Offensive style incursion attacks and counter-attacks from the Liberal Leftists (until they realize theirs is a losing battle).

My biggest worry is that the Liberal Leftists will go Sherman-to-the-sea crazy and start really terrorizing people. The reason this worries me, is because I don't think there are any countries out there who would really even CARE about such abuse! And they would care even less, if it required actual military support (there are no 1700's-1800's French-style countries left out there to provide moral and armament support)!

Which would be quelled in short order.

If there were an event catostrophic enough to cause the federal government to collapse, I would imagine that numerous state governments would collapse and de facto dissolve as well.

That said, I think the point being made is that rather than there being two distinct regions (north and south) at war, the conflict would be between towns, counties, neighbors, similar to the ARW in the rural south but more brutal. Instead of Virginia against Maryland, it will be rural Georgia against Atlanta and northern Maine against southern Maine. In very conservative states such as Oklahoma, the cities will heavily secured, besieged islands. In uber leftist states conservatives will be hounded out and killed. Balkanization at a human level.

No civil war is likely to take place... The reason is racial demographics and obesity.

In 2018 the US has approximately 327 million people. In 1980 the US had approximately 226 million people. The percentage of non-Spanish speaking white people in 1980 was approximately 90%. or 203 million. The percentage of non-Spanish speaking white people in the US in 2018 is 63% or 206 million. The birthrate of white people in the US is less than replacement value. White people of child bearing age in this country have been convinced not to reproduce in large enough numbers to replace those who die. Basically all of the population increase in the US since 1980 has been from immigrants and minorities.

The median age of non-Spanish speaking white people in this country is now 38 years; in 1980 it was 30. White people in the US will have gone from approximately 90% in 1980 to less than half by 2050. And the median age of white people will be in the mid 40s. Has anyone looked around lately at what the average 40 something year old looks like? 70% of Americans are overweight by the time they reach 20. By the time Americans reach 40, the obesity rate has now become astounding. People in foreign countries typically identify American tourists not by the color of our skin but by how fat we are.

So how are a bunch of fatties that make up less than half the population going to win the next civil war? It doesn’t seem likely. We are more likely to be like the proverbial frogs in a pot on the stove.

Liberals and liberalism have done enough to sow the discord and stain the culture and gene pool with hyphenated identities and much confusion that there is no way we can ever come together as a nation wholeheartedly.

Immigration (legal or illegal) destroys a culture and identity.
I’m for walls around every nation.

The reality is though that this country forgot God, and kicked Him to the curve. That’s where the real hell to pay will come to play.

As long as there is overwhelming debt, beer and football on TV, there isn't going to be another civil war.

I agree. True change (in either direction) won't come until Soccer Mom's and NASCAR Dads are looking into the faces of their starving children; trying to figure out how to feed them.

I think you are wrong or perhaps only partially right. GA and NY are two great examples. The state governments will not go away or collapse, actually the opposite is true; unleashed from the feds, NY will go full on Commie and GA will go full on democracy/freedom. So there will be an insurgency in both states, up in NY “conservatives” will be the insurgents to be hunted down and rounded up and conversely the “leftists” will be the hunted down insurgents in GA. You cannot paint with broad brush.

When the gas and commerce runs out, you’ll just have to worry about marauding gangs on foot or bicycle. And your next-door neighbors.

The woods might be the safest place.

I’m about 50 miles north of ATL. I’d worry about my meth-addicted neighbors more than the urbanites.
