Idris Elba is one of many stars to be linked to the role of James Bond, as speculation continues over who will take over from Daniel Craig when he leaves the franchise.
And the actor, 45, appears to be back in the running for the coveted 007 role after Bond producer Barbara Broccoli said 'it is time' for a non-white leading man to play the character.
Speaking with American filmmaker Antoine Fuqua on Thursday about who could next take on the role she said it 'will happen eventually' and Idris is a clear favourite.

Concur. The man is a fantastic actor. His role with Kate Winslet in The Mountain Between Us was Oscar material.

It wont “happen”, it’ll be done. Things that happen occur naturally. This is PC bullshit being DONE.
If you follow the Hollywood trend, the next Bond should be a womyn. However, the #MeToo movement may have quashed that for a bit.
So from that perspective, Elba may be the mainstream choice.
I really enjoyed the "Bourne-ish" extreme action oriented Daniel Craig Bond.
As a fan of Steven King’s Dark Tower books, I was initially taken aback at Elba’s casting as Roland for the film. Turned out he was the only good thing in the movie. That and the Allstate guy as his dad :)

You know what. I’ve been acting a lot of his stuff lately, and the guy just could pull it off, or at ;east he needs to be in a Bond spin-off franchise.
To destroy a culture, you first take their heroes.
They’ve still never topped Sean Connery, but each has had his good moments. Except for Timothy Dalton. He had ‘the look’ but could not pull off the character.
I liked Pierce Brosnan.
Daniel Craig could have been a whole different character - like ‘Bourne’ - I loved the movies but it was hard to remember he was ‘Bond’... so they had to keep saying his name.
The character of James Bond has traditionally always been white. Isn’t this “cultural appropriation?”
I’m not a Dr Who fan or even watch the series but I did enjoy the Matt Smith/Amelia Pond episodes.
Apparently the newest Dr Who is a woman...so it won’t be long before Bond becomes a woman, too.
So when Bond is a woman, will there be “Bond Girls” for James/Jamie to hit on?
But he did grow on me.
How is casting this guy as Bond “taking our heroes”? If this is a REAL rendition of bond, not some hip-hop bastardization, then I have no problem with it.

If they're going to stick with the newer formula Elba is probably a good choice. I'd prefer they return to the old formula, in which case the tall skinny guy who played Loki in the super hero movies would be better.
Yeah, me too. Elba would be the best actor to play the part since Connery.
