President Donald Trump's interaction with Russian President Vladimir Putin was a "disaster," "detrimental to the country" and the strongest evidence yet that "the president (should) step down."
Those are the words of former New Jersey Gov. Christie Whitman, a Republican, who penned a blistering op-ed in the Los Angeles Times this weekend calling on fellow GOPers to put country over party and dump Trump.
"In this election year, opposing Trump is risky for GOP candidates," Whitman wrote. "Invoking the need to choose country over party is an overused trope. But it is essential now."
The piece was a reaction to Trump's refusal last week to publicly rebuke Putin for meddling in the 2016 presidential during a summit between the two. Trump and Putin "spent a great deal of time" discussing allegations of Russian election meddling as they met for several hours on July 16, the U.S. president said at a joint press conference in Finland that day.
But Trump did not strongly condemn the interference efforts, which U.S. intelligence agencies insist did occur, including the hacking of Democratic emails, the subject of the recent indictments of 12 Russians.

Republicans the world over miss the depth and intrigue of this wonderful woman. Her accomplishments are too numerous to remember.
Christine Whitman was a liberal Republican, RHINO who attacked any Conservative she disagreed with. She was and is one of those “Republicans” the Left loves because she attacks other Republicans. Apparently she wants back in the limelight and the best way to do that is to blast a Republican president. Another pathetic so called Republican, like McCain.
Well, I was brought up in New Jersey, lived most of my life there and know it well.
It is, indeed, the armpit of the nation. I’m glad some of you like it. I was more than glad to get out of it and hope I never have to go back.
And, of course, I don’t mean everyone who lives there is an idiot (don’t take me THAT literally!). I say that because it’s a stupid leftist enclave that votes RAT for President time after time after time. It’s as reliable as New York or Massachusetts for the enemy.
Christie...who? >>
Christie Whitman
Chris Christie ???
We just love our Christies in NJ, LOL..
Along that theme, it is not a surprise that the Newark Star Beggar would run with the story..
Christie Whitman was a twit as governor. She doesn’t seem any better now.
She has BLOOD OF THOUSANDS ON HER HANDS.
IN a just society, ALL of her WEALTH would be stripped and she would be thrown into prison for about 10 years.
Your post is why the ENEMEDIA wants to silence us.
That she is STUPID enough to make such a statement shows how INEFFECTIVE Trump and his DOJ are, and how UNAFRAID the CONSPIRATORS are.
Better believe she would keep her mouth shut if Obama and Holder or SHRILLARY and whatever demon she put in charge of DOJ were boss.
Anything for a dollar.
Who is paying this creature?
Anything for a dollar.

>>It would be nice if we found a way to separate New Jersey from the continent and just let it drift off into the Atlantic somewhere. It would be decades before the idiots who live there even noticed.<<
I wonder, is it the stench wafting over NJ from the garbage in NeuYawk that does so much brain damage to all the fine Lefties in the Garden State?
7 for 8 I think which was outstanding. But those endorsements were in primaries. I am super anxious to see if DJT will hold rallies for every republican at risk in general election and they win 24/30. If that works, the GOP elites will all need psychiatric help.
I am sure he will campaign hard for many candidates who could use a boost.
Sane people say ‘up yours’ to Rep-tards like this ....
Here I thought this story was about Cripsy Kreme Chris Christie, and thought maybe he decided to go trans becoming Whitman, lol.
whitman is a stain on this country’s underwear. What has she accomplished of any positive value?
