Roseanne isnt back, but The Conners are. The highly anticipated follow-up show premiered Tuesday night to lower-than-expected ratings but critical approval. Besides tuning in to find out how the show did away with Roseanne, what did viewers actually think about the show?
The consensus? Not great.
This show should have stayed cancelled,' one viewer said succinctly. Another commenter was equally as blunt, stating; Probably the worst show Ive ever seen.

I didn’t watch the show.
I didn’t have to watch the show to know that John Goodman is worth watching regardless. He’s been in bad movies, but his part in those movies were watchable.
That I believe John Goodman is a great actor is still an opinion of mine. It really can’t be called fact, even though I can produce a lot of objective evidence to support my appreciation of the man.
I fully confess that there are times when I show a mastery of the obvious, though generally its when I’m fatigued.
If I asked 100 people on the street who the BEST 10 actors are in terms of their ability to act, John Goodman likely doesn’t make that list. Neither does Harry Dean Stanton, though you could make a good case he ought to be there.
For that matter, Michael Caine may not make that list either.
I’m not in attack mode, but I would point out that what is obvious to one may still be obscure to someone else. It’s a matter of priorities and perspective, I suppose.
I thought they were making her out to have been a druggie. They found drugs hidden around the house. She wasn't getting drugs just from the lady Dan blamed for Roseanne's death.
He was real good in O’Brother Where Art Thou? Yes a Clooney Movie but before he got beyond obnoxious with his politics.
Look, I am so sorry. It was a knee jerk reaction and I should have been kinder with my reply. LONGSUFFERING is not one of my strong points.

Don’t sweat it. Everybody is broken, but together it all makes an incredible mosaic.
I’m sort of done judging anybody, even liberals. People come to things. At that moment culminates so many variables that it is hard sometimes to predict what may occur.
And I am in no way implying you are a liberal. I wouldn’t do that, even if I thought you were.
Also, liberal isn’t a word anyone can use anymore. It used to be associated with ‘free’, ‘freer’, ‘generous’.
None of those things are what you see on the left, so . . .
And I hear Last Man Standing is doing great on Fox.
I know whose band belongs to who. It was intentional.
; )
It was very dark, but it reflected the Obituary page in my Middle America hometown. Every day we are losing people of all ages to the opioid epidemic. If this program saves but one life it is worth all the catcalls on FR. Some of you people are very harsh. p
I hope it tanks.
“If the critics liked it, ordinary viewers probably wont.”
That seems to be the case with anything Disney controls.
The latest Star Wars movie was garbage. I liked Episode VII, but VIII was a horribly directed flop of a film. Fans gave it a 45/100 while critics were in the 90/100 regime. SJW trash is probably #47,962 on my list of things that were wrong with that waste of money.
Black Panther is another movie critics praised. It was a run of the mill, but decent Marvel comic movie. The critics praised it as if a comic movie has never been translated to the big screen successfully before. Fans were on board with it to the tune of the upper 70s/100 .
Those are just two of the many big disconnects with Disney big budget film reviews.
When I moved to Phoenix in 1995, my SoCal coworkers presented me with a VHS copy of “Raising Arizona”. What a hoot!
This unfortunately is what many people think Arizona is like — filled with the dysfunctional and armed criminally insane.
Viewers? who cares about them?
“laughed and imagined how great that show would actually be.”
I’d be all for a show w/o the moaning mess from New Jersey.
I’m not a Roseanne fan, but her show without the star is like a 007 movie without James Bond, or an Indiana Jones movie without our favorite archaeologist. What’s the point? As Maxwell Smart would say (if they brought his show back and included him), “missed it by that much.”
Well, I am fairly sure both Bob Seger and Bruce would be confused not to mention the audience.
Dream Sequence Ala Dynasty....
She’ll be back
I am with Roseanne. They over reacted and should have reinstated her.
The son is gay? I thought one of the daughters was gay. And who does the black grand daughter belong to?
“See ya’ in the funny papers, boys.”
