We had a big issue last year....seems one of the guests gets headache from red wine. She made such a damn issue of it....going on and on for an hour.
Of course the solution is....don't drink it.
We did a little searching after she left...yes...there's a RWS....Red Wine Syndrome. I prefer RWN....Red Wine Nuts.
P.S. We know who is in need of special consideration and we do what we can.
Not parsnips. They are very high in carbs and have a high glycemic index.
Be sure to listen to several approved Xmas songs on a 24/7 loop.
Bruce Springsteen’s version of Santa Claus is Coming to Town.
George Michae’s Last Christmas.
And last but not least Feed the World.
Over and over and over....
Good luck finding asparagus that is imported from Mexico.
Make a low calorie pumpkin pie (custard) without the crust. Otherwise I think it will be veggies and turkey all day.
We do a lot of brussel sprouts with bacon, always collard greens, and I love my creamed spinach.
Not big stuffing people or potato peope, so it’s actually pretty easy to go low (starchy) carb on Turkey day.
Then go sit that person at the kid’s table.
Butternut Squash, cranberries, cube squash sauté in butter or olive oil if youre feeding a vegan. Also roasted Brussels sprouts.
Sorry if you’re deathly allergic to anything, but I believe in eating less of things, rather than eliminating them completely. I’ll cut way back on carbs before and after thanksgiving so I can indulge in mashed potatoes and stuffing. Why are you not eating dairy? If it is the lactose, than you can eat cured cheeses, soured products, and/or take lactase. If it is an allergy, then you can probably eat goat or some other mammal milk products.
Don’t make people who eat normally feel bad, especially on Thanksgiving!
I don’t understand the no dairy thing.
My husband and I have been on the Keto diet since May. I made my weight goal last month and can ease up some, altho it is a lifestyle change. I don’t want to go back. My husband has lost 70 pounds and wants to lose a bit more.
It is working, and dairy is in our diet. Without that...dry vegetables? yuck.
We’ll splurge a bit Thanksgiving. Stuffing is on my cheat list for that day.
Green beans seasoned with bacon.
Mashed cauliflower.
As far as dairy goes, have you tried the A2 milk? I have a lot of problems with dairy and I can drink it and use it for cooking. My problem is it is only available at sprouts and that is 60 miles.
I know several people with the problem, I was with 2 of them when they first reacted, they don’t whine or wine, they drink hard liquor or beer.
They could use margarine.
I am gluten, dairy, and ALL sugar free except the occasional fructose.
It can be done and joyfully without all the overeating and carb load issues.
They could use margarine.
Diets get boring and monotonous. When you get to the point of cutting out just about everything they are very hard to continue for the long run.
If we cut out dairy too....I doubt my husband would stick to it. And what we are doing is working very well for us.
There are plenty of tasty recipes available for keto, paleo, low carb type diets. My daughter uses almond flour now instead of white flour for pie crusts. I’m looking forward to trying that.
Easy peasy.
Turkey, giblet gravy with xanthan gum as thickener, roasted root veggies, green been almondine/bacon/or mushrooms to make green beans fancy, a nice fresh veggie salad and mashed cauliflower instead of mashed potatoes. Xanthan gum is wonderful for LC recipes. It’s found with the Red Mill flours at the grocery store. You only need a pinch so the package will last FOREVER. Don’t add more than a pinch or two or it’ll make the dish slimy. Also, it makes your fingers slimy so wash them well.
Look online for “Nancy’s Flax bun and vegetables stuffing” or there’s sure to be other LC stuffing recipes. Or perhaps just go with roasted mushrooms and with/without sausage or bacon and nuts with stuffing seasoning. IOW, everything you’d normally have in the stuffing but the bread.
Make a cranberry sauce with LC sweetener rather than sugar.
Set out a relish and veggie stick tray and a cold cut meat tray. Also, a cracker tray using almond flour - http://genaw.com/lowcarb/snack_recipes.html . I’ve made many of those crackers and they’re really good. Grind your own almonds in the food processor and it’s cheaper than buying almond flour. I’m thinking using those Blue Diamond brand flavored almonds would be really great. They’ll keep fine so make them ahead of time.
There are lots of LC pumpkin pie recipes out there. Basically, just omit the crust. Where the normal back of the can recipe calls for evaporated milk, use a bit of water or almond milk and add an extra egg if you don’t want dairy to thin the mixture down.
