Pastor John Gray, who leads his own church in Greenville, South Carolina, and still preaches at Lakewood Church in Houston, is responding to people who criticized him for the lavish anniversary gift he gave to his wife for their eighth wedding anniversary on Dec.11.

In a video captured by R&B singer and actor Tyrese, Gray surprises his wife Aventer with a Lamborghini Urus. According to the Kelley Blue Book, the 2019 luxury SUV starts at $200,000.

My favorite is a guy who wants you to send him $273 - he's got some magic formula. Sometimes it's $1,000. Todd Koontz. Another David Cerullo operation.

And then there are guys who just want your cash. Go for the Triple Favor. Much better than the Double Favor.

For $1,000, you can have God's unstoppable favor (according to Todd Koontz and David Cerullo). I guess it's on sale, if you give the money to this guy. Seems like this guy could just give his own $1,000 and have God's unstoppable favor, so why does he need your $1,000 donation and many, many more from other people?

So David Cerullo can raise $100 million dollars per year. Or has, some years.

Now, disclaimer. I have sown seed and seen amazing returns. I have also seen the other end of the spectrum and have for some time now. But this two-hour infomercial that runs 2 hours a day, 7 days a week, or at least it did, strikes me wrong. Lotsa praise music, lotsa sound Bible preaching, and then 30 minutes of send me your cash.

It’ll be a piece of crap in 10 years.

Perhaps but they will have found another spiffy vehicle in two years and that one will belong to someone else. People that can spend 200K plus on a car (unless they are collectors) move on in a few years.

Tim Tebow doesn’t make a living off the tithes of others. I couldn’t care less how he spends his money.

Meanwhile, Kid Rock and others are helping pay debts of others. Seems to me, they put this “pastor” to shame.

It's not just finances. Many times a ministry is started with the best of intentions by God-led people of integrity. However, with time, others join with different ideas in mind. Sometimes it's helpers who take over (pushing the original visionaries to the side), other times it is nepotism (continuing in the "Family Business").

Again, not saying all are corrupted, but there are enough that ends up tainting the good ones (of all faiths).

Again personally (to show that the judgement of God is real), I have seen pastors blind-sided and kicked to the curb by "elders" or laymen, eager to advance their own selfish agendas (See Stanford Prison Experiment and Stockholm syndrome for some ideas concerning this phenomena). I have been mercifully absent from any of this, refusing to lay a hand on a man of God, even if they are in the wrong (God deals with that eventually). The aftermath has seen Gods judgements on these laypeople, their businesses, their health, and families. God is real, and so is His judgements. It is something to be very serious about and aware of...

Some of the more secular muslims are seeing this as well, and are pushing back on their leaders. That is where you see the slaughter in the middle-eastern streets for "blasphemy". If you equate the communist state to a religious order, just look at the similarities between these corrupt religious empires and the government of communist China. It's all there: Corruption, egos, greed to name a few, using all available means in suppressing the faithful (voluntarily or not) to the ends those rulers seek. The wall paper is different, but the wall behind them is the same....

Shouldn’t pastors get a yearly salary. I don’t think they can take two hundred grand out of the kitty to but a car. Can they?

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Does the Pastor make money outside of the church and having nothing to do with tithes? EXACTLY how much does he get to keep?

Has this Pastor financially helped others like you would say Kid Rock has?

Those are both rhetorical questions that make a point. You have no idea where this Pastor earns all of his money. And you have no idea how much he gives to others less fortunate than himself.

But you (and many others here) sure are quick to judge him.

Matthew 7:1

Judge not, that ye be not judged.

1.4 million? That’s just a smart business investment. In California you could get an average 3/2 ranch style house for $1.4.

I’d be ticked if my husband spent that on a CAR.

That would make a great down payment on a house with land.

That’s why our focus is to be on CHRIST and not man.

When people make church too necessary, then this is going to happen.

Churches don’t and can’t save anyone. Only Jesus can do that.

So while going to church is fine and helpful, to a degree, our spiritual growth comes with our own time alone with the Lord, praying, worshiping and most importantly, getting into His word.

Salvation is an individual thing, not a corporate thing.

And you are right and wise to question everyone’s appeal for money.

What ticks me off the most is when people at church go on a short term missions project (and I know what kind of job they have, and they certainly have enough money to pay for it themselves) and these are the people who hardly give me the time of day, and yet when they want a free trip, they come with hands out, begging for money.

For too many people, the only time I hear from them is when they want something. Nope. Don’t bother.

You can’t be a friend just because? Then forget the hand out. You are not going to use me.

1 John 4:1- Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already.

And testing requires judging.

By their fruits you will know them.

God EXPECTS us to use wisdom in determining who to follow and believe.

Misusing Matt 7:1 to get someone to back off when a shyster is exposed is wrong.

Scripture is not a weapon to be used to bludgeon people into submission to someone else's opinion with.

The good pastor needs this fast, luxurious, imported automobile to get to his parishioners much quicker. A typical car would not do, this is the Lord’s work you see.
