Tom Brady is an underdog for first time since 2014
NBC Sports ^ | January 15, 2019 | Michael David Smith

The Patriots were favored in every game this season and postseason. They were favored in every game in 2017, regular season and postseason. They were favored in every game in 2016 except two games during Tom Brady‘s Deflategate suspension. And they were never an underdog in 2015. But they’re not favored now.

New England is a 3-point underdog at Kansas City on Sunday in the AFC Championship Game, and that makes this the first time since 2014 that Tom Brady has played a game in which he was the underdog

The last time the Pats won a road playoff game was 2004/2005 season. Since then they have gone 0 for 4.

Tom Brady gets flustered easily.

And when on the road, he has a tendency to pout a lot too.

patrick mahomes is going to have fun, while brady is going to be miserable.

The frigid forecast for the game in KC favors the Patriots in my opinion.
Go Chiefs.

Gronk will find a homeless guy -in KC- to take to the game with him; VIP pass.
Brady will be inspired.
Chefs? Not so much.

Especially when he is rushed and hurried.

Unfortunately, I see Brady making the Favre mistake AGAIN this year.

The cold will have more effect on Mahomes than Brady who throws the short passes and more used to cold weather games. Chiefs defense gotta play large. We will see.

LoL!

Everyone has got an opinion and a bunch of stats to prove one way or the other...

They’re both exceptional teams.

I’m going to go out a limb here, but I think one of them, either the Chiefs or the Patriots, will win.

I think you will see the Pats running game just like this past weekend against Chargers. KC is very vulnerable to the run. It also keeps Mahomes off the field. I think it is going to be a great game. Whoever has the ball last in the 4th quarter wins. Home field in KC always favors the Chiefs.

he made one of the best defenses in the league look silly... the ravens were falling all over themselves.

Pats will win by at least 10. KC chokes in playoffs as usual.

Brady was draft pick 199 so to him, he is always the underdog.

Easily two of the most ignorant comments I’ve read ever on this site. There’s something you’re bitter about towards Brady and it’s manifesting itself in his football performance. Year after year Brady continues to amaze and lead with less weapons than many other QB’s. Easily the greatest ever and a Trump supporter to boot. Played in eight Superbowls and won 5. And he should have another ring if Belichick didn’t make the mind blowing mistake of sitting Malcolm Butler last year.

I live in KC and man! If the Chiefs defense plays this Sunday like they did against Indianapolis, then the game is ours by 3 points. High scoring game, frigid temps won’t bother the Chiefs one bit. Should be fun. Haven’t seen a Chiefs team this explosive since they won the Superbowl in ‘69. Still...…… gosh I’d like to have a couple of Neil Smiths and Derik Thomas’ on defense and add in a Joe Phillips.

They could win by 10. I won’t begrudge you that. However, this young quarterback is so explosive and their defense actually showed up against Indianapolis. Add to all this the fact that Arrowhead is the loudest stadium in the NATION..... We’ll see.

Of course the shocking thing about that stat isn’t the 0-4 on the road, it’s 20-3 at home. Hard to have a good road playoff record when you never go on the road. 8 trips to the conference finals in a row, almost all at home.

Big question to me is Reid. He has a long history of getting out coached in the playoffs, and full fledged embarassed when it’s Belichick on the other side. Has he figured it out this time? Or maybe the Pats on the road this season are so bad he doesn’t have to.

Tom Brady is the GOAT...

But Mahomes is a Phenom talent.

Belicek vs. Reid goes to Belicek.

Close game, with Pats pulling it out by 9.

*note..Mahomes is such a phenom, that if Belicek can’t force some picks...KC could very well win this game.

3 points isn't enough. I'd pick KC over the spread. And I'm a Pats fan who lives a stone's throw from Rt. 1 in Foxboro.

This game will be less of a test of Brady than it will be of Belichick. A win would seal his legacy as a defensive genius. Brady merely needs to execute perfectly.
