The designated chump was Jeb(!).

Trump is the guy she probably still fears will have her swinging from the end of a rope.

That is exactly what happened.

Media studies show in the primaries the media favored trump hoping to saddle the republicans with the worst nominee and allow Clinton to go easily to victory.

Media shifted sharply against trump when he got the nomination and profoundly for Clinton. Especially in October.

Trump crushed opponents both fair and foul through his own grasp of what mattered to the little voters, one by one, and his own outstanding and sometimes vicious wit. I’m good with vicious. We need more of that and less geldings’ milk from GOP NPCs.

Yep, Hillary was “supposed” to win. It was her turn, she’s the smartest woman in the world, nobody has ever been better qualified to be president, etc. etc. etc.

Sometimes I leave some liberal types with something to think about. I ask them, if Hillary is the smartest woman in the world, the Democrat party is all in with diversity and tolerance and all that, and the GOP and Trump are racist, sexist, etc., AND, Trump is so obviously a buffoon......

Then why weren’t Hillary and her campaign able to win the election? If Trump is so obviously an ignoramus, and his supporters deplorable, why didn’t Hillary win???? Based on this, it should have been an easy election for her to win.

They are losing power and influence. She is not left far enough for 2020. Nobody in the party wants a two time loser.

Of course the rat media pushed President Trump in the primaries. They thought he was the weakest candidate, and they knew they had plenty of dirt on him. Just the standard collusion with the rat party.

You're not the first one to propose this theory.

New Book Dishes on How Clinton Staff Worked to ‘Maximize’ Trump in GOP Primary Apr 20th, 2018

New York Times reporter Amy Chozick has further evidence that the Hillary Clinton campaign wanted President Donald Trump to win the Republican primary.

I don't think Amy was the first either.

I don’t think it was her, because she doesn’t have the self-awareness to realize that people might not just fall all over themselves to vote for her. I read her lips once when she was consulting with her aides and was pretty well floored by the hubris and the way she seemed to regard individual audience members as “its” rather than people.

I think the media was pushing Trump early on and it seems like they were doing pretty much as you say. They were probably trying to avoid Jeb! and all that comes with the Bushies (can’t fault them there). I think that the media utterly failed to see the appeal of populism, probably because they have been sold a lie in the form of globalism/Chinese inevitability/the evil Western colonial powers (which apparently we are the head of despite having been a colony). I think that “accepted wisdom” on that front is full of sins of omission as well as commission and in college, nobody really has the time to probe too far into what the textbooks are telling us because well are too busy thanks to the flipped classroom way of doing things. Nobody really gets to kick the tires so this crap gets accepted as fact, which is pretty scary. You try to push back and you are going to get varying responses with true liberals (not evil leftists) being about the best because they actually want you to think.

Trump would have won anyway. He didn’t need the assist from the media early on because both parties were wildly out of step with the voters. Despite an avalanche of evidence that the voters were displeased, Trump is the only one who took them seriously and listened. The rest just seem to have assumed that people were too stupid to have a valid point.

Looking at how hard the Establishment Republicans worked to beat Trump in the Caucus States, giving Trump the nomination lets him pick the RNC chair and people at the top of the party and the money and lies and energy... I dont think the Uniparty wanted him to win the Republican nomination in the end.

Several problems with your suggestion, but there are several positive factors.

First, there were 15 total contenders in the GOP, and it was stacked in a way to guarantee the convention would pick ‘their’ winner (Jeb B).

Second, I would agree that getting Trump into the mix early on (particularly in Iowa)...changed the dynamics of the whole election.

Third, I think the Steele Dossier was supposed to be this guaranteed to destroy Trump theme, sold off to Hillary by late spring of 2016. It’s value to the campaign? Almost zero.

Fourth, Hillary got beat in 2008 by a more or less unknown Senator. People weren’t that thrilled with her, or the theme. Nothing changed from 2008 to 2016....there is little to no thrills gained from a Hillary campaign. I know she’d deny that but go out into states like Michigan and look for enthusiasm in 2016, it didn’t exist.

Finally, there is this odd Ross Perot-factor that exists with Trump. He’s not a pure GOP guy, or Democrat. He’s a business man, and a New Yorker. He’s learned over the decades to take the punishment, and how to dish it out in retribution. The GOP has never had someone like that. The public in 2016 were thrilled with Trump’s theme. If Hillary’s strategy went to help lift Trump to be the GOP candidate, then she was creating a ‘frankenstein’ and letting it roam freely.
