QUEEN To Perform At The Academy Awards This Sunday (Without Freddie Mercury of course )
Metal Injection ^ | 02/21/2019 | BY GREG KENNELTY

Queen has really been keeping in the spotlight over the past year. The band's Bohemian Rhapsody film is currently the highest-grossing music biopic of all time, the film is up for five Oscars at the coming Academy Awards, and the band is back out on the road touring in support of the film.

So it should come as no surprise that Queen + Adam Lambert has been announced as a musical act for the 91st Academy Awards coming up this Sunday, February 24.

Bohemian Rhapsody is up for the Oscar for Best Picture, as well as Rami Malek for Best Actor in his portrayal of the late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury.

Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
We welcome @QueenWillRock and @adamlambert to this year's #Oscars!https://t.co/7uDf42FbjJ

Did they ever get a master of ceremonies for the Oscar’s? Ever find someone pure enough to have never told a joke which could be perceived as offensive to a homosexual?

The Oscar goes to... Jussie Smolett for his role in “House of Clowns” with Nigerian extras.

As much as I hate to admit it, I would tune into the Oscars just to watch their performance. Haven’t watched it since Johnny Carson was the host.

According to Variety, the show’s producers will choose a group of super famous celebs to keep things moving. You can probably still expect plenty of monologues and the typical banter about public events.

Maybe someone will even volunteer as tribute to riff off of Lady Gaga’s infamous “100 people in a room” speech.

Queen probably had the highest collective IQ in the history of rock music and you can get an idea of that by the way they have managed to keep themselves in the spotlight long after they should have been relegated to the discount bin at the local record shop.

RE: Queen probably had the highest collective IQ in the history of rock music.

YES, YOU’RE RIGHT.

Their lead guitarist, Brian May majored in Astrophysics in College even as the band was being formed.

And get this -— He eventually got his Ph.D. in Astrophysics from Imperial College London in 2007, and was Chancellor of Liverpool John Moores University from 2008 to 2013.

He was a “science team collaborator” with NASA’s New Horizons Pluto mission. He is also a co-founder of the awareness campaign Asteroid Day. Asteroid 52665 Brianmay was named after him.

Bass Guitarist John Deacon (Who wrote the hit: ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST ), joined Queen in 1971 on the strength of his musical and electronic skills ( He majored in Electronics Engineering in college) particularly the home-made Deacy Amp which guitarist Brian May used to create guitar orchestras throughout Queen’s career.

And Drummer Roger Taylor went to London to study dentistry at the London Hospital Medical College but he became bored with dentistry. He changed to biology and obtained a BSc at East London Polytechnic.

They got Adam Lambert, who has been touring with Queen for the past year to widespread accolade. He’s probably the next best thing to the incomparable Freddie Mercury.

There was a scene in the movie where Freddie was telling the band that they would be nobodys if it wasn't for him and that Brian would be working at some observatory writing some boring paper nobody would read. I believe Brian has now done that.

(Without Freddie Mercury of course )

If RGB can make a public Supreme Court appearance, Freddie could make an appearance for this event too.

She shouldn’t have a singer.
May can still jam on the guitar.
