Former Army intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning has been jailed for refusing to testify to a grand jury investigating Wikileaks.
U.S. District Judge Claude Hilton ordered Manning to jail Friday after a brief hearing in which Manning confirmed she has no intention of testifying.
She told the judge she 'will accept whatever you bring upon me.'
She was booked into the Alexandria Detention Center in Virginia, which houses about 400 inmates.

Manning exposed military, DOD, State Department & Other activities & personnel to disruption & potential danger. It doesn’t matter if in your estimation no one was hurt. If any were it’s very likely you might not know about it. As a low level military intel specialist Manning had no right to make any decision about the material he’s handling. He signed legal documents acknowledging the consequences of mishandling them. If one doesn’t like what those documents stand for or might theoretically say don’t join the military, if you do don’t volunteer for intel analysis training, etc. It’s like joining the military & discover you might go to war & it’s really not just another government job training program despite what the recruiter might have said. If I remember the story right Manning’s motivation was due to a gay love affair tiff. He was mad about his superiors lack of sympathy for his problem so he got back at them that way. How noble & mature!
Not a “she” he is a “he” and always will be. Gender dysphoria is now and will always be a mental illness which should be treated like any other mental health disease.
Jail is exactly where HE belongs.
It’s the Army’s fault for giving him his security clearance, especially at a young age where most men don’t even know themselves.
There are plenty of people of that age in the Army with that level of clearance. The problem was because of his “protected status” he couldn’t be denied the MOS. Then when it became clear he was an immature drama queen he couldn’t be disciplined (Including removed from the Army!)
I don’t blame the Army, you want to blame someone, get the voting public to hold up a mirror! What they allow, the Army to some extent allows. In many ways the Army is a reflection of society!

I believe his motivation was being sickened by the carnage he saw directed at Afghani Civlians in a JAG video he accessed, the helicopter hunting vid of Iraqis, and the internal docs which revealed the exploitation of the “Third World” by the “First World”.

He joined the Army, he signed the security docs knowing the consequences.

I would posit his feelings of alienation and psychological problems due to his gender identity/dysphoria contributed, as well as his being repulsed by that to which he had access.

Exactly. Most of what she released had nothing to do with Afghanistan or the war. She’s displayed the same delusional hatred of the USA as Reality Winner. Those who believe either are heroes are delusional too. Sad to see such posts on FR.
