There are signs of an impending showdown on the East End of Long Island, where the Shinnecock Indian Nation is putting up giant billboards at the entrance of Southampton.
Local leaders are calling them an eyesore, but the 60-foot high billboards are on tribal land, CBS2s Carolyn Gusoff reported Tuesday.
An assault on the East End. Thats how Southampton officials describe what the Shinnecocks are quickly building at the gateway to the Hamptons, and just in time for the summer crowds a gigantic pair of two-sided electronic advertising billboards.

I don’t see anything wrong with it.
It’s not Las Vegas style..................
Looks like “Biff’s Casino” from Back to the Future”. LOL.
Most native land is not owned by natives. It is held in trust by the federal government who has title and ownership. Natives may receive benefits from living on that land.
Times Square is an abomination upon the originally very rural Manhattan.
The men of Trollhatten object.
Whitey once again telling Redmen what they should do with their land.
Yea, I’m having difficulty finding any empathy here.
Dime-bag Democrats can go pound sand.
How about just an influx of illegal immigrants. Got a few with TB wandering around San Antonio at the moment.
Best Liberal Hypocrite Story since the Kennedys went to court to stop a wind farm offshore from Hyannisport.

They’ll be face first on the ground after the first Atlantic Ocean storm rolls in.
If its on tribal land, then there’s nothing the locals can do. Federal judge here in Washington that the Yakima Nation can sell fireworks on their land after Klickitat county tried to stop them. The basis of the lawsuit was that that the type and size of fireworks have a greater potential to start forest and rangeland fires and that the county was responsible to put them out. The judge ruled they had a right to conduct commerce on their land.
Gave them a country and they are being capitalists. We used to shed blood trying to get people to do that.
Nice...If I the Shinnecocks, I would start a manufacturing plant there... Liberals are morons...
That’s because the individual Injuns were trading their res land parcels for booze. Kinda sad.
That said, if they are “sovereign nations” WTF are they doing voting in the white man’s elections?
